I would put a full bin by the prep sink as that should be where most of the trash/food waste will be generated and it seems to be centrally located in the kitchen for use by any spot where you are working. If you aren't close to it then use a bowl for waste and throw it in the trash when finished.

If you were truly going to use your prep sink then you need some kind of trash receptacle in that area but you don't necessarily need a pullout bin. Have you looked at the Blanco solon?
I do find it very odd that your island is twice the size of the dining room table... it just seems strange.

Practigal- I see where you are coming from regarding the island and table as viewed in this drawing. Don't want to hijack my own thread :-) just trust me lol. That Solon is awesome looking! I have fears about the big hole in my counter though...

Main trash on the island, underneath the prep zone, across from the main sink. It can be pulled out to scrape dishes into right behind the main sink, and then the dishes go into the open DW next to the main sink. No rinsing these days to worry about drips on the floor. You may want a small trash under the main sink as well. It's something that can be added later if need be though.

I would put it next to the prep sink pulling out toward the main sink; you could access it for prep and for clean up.

Agreed (although mine is next to the main sink - I don't have a prep sink in the island), and also, yes, the locations of the prep sink and microwave are "right".

Everything looks good to me. Put the trash by the prep sink across from the clean-up sink like chicagoans says.
