Stick with the known brands. You're risking losing your $$ on a suspect import product.

Thanks everyone. Sorry to be really naive, but are you @kevdp4 and @Trebruchet saying that a quartz made on a Breton machine has the same resins/way of doing it? I think that is what you are saying?

I looked at the resins page you linked to - I am not sure what it means, but does it mean that it only uses those for the (in theory 7%ish) resins? Or that it uses those and maybe other stuff? Oh dear.

Before the Breton tech patents ran out all quartz was made with this resin. The only other ingredients was the aggregate (quartz, etc.) and sometimes additives. Now the patent has expired there is no telling what is being used.

Does the resin break down easily?

@pdxkit - Um, I am not sure. Is there a way to figure that out? I have a sample from the store I might buy it through with me, but of course that isn't the slab itselfâ¦. and it is just a 3 inch sampleâ¦.

The 93%-7% is based on weight not volume. Quartz is heavier than resin. The volume ratio is probably closer to 84% quartz and 16% resin.

The resin is very durable but can be damaged by UV, heat, chemicals and abrasion.
