Pendant light saga....

We shopped @ a local light store for mini-pendant lights about a month ago. They quoted us a price & we decided to order the 3 we needed. (When I got home I found I could have saved almost $100 if I had ordered online, but that is another story I guess.) They came in in about a week, so I went & picked them up. I specifically asked if all the parts were there & was assured they were. My electrician came to hang them this week & said they were missing a transformer & canopy for each light & so we called the shop & she said she would order them. Now we find out each one costs $70! I called yesterday to check to see if they were in. I did say I was just wanting to make sure that these pieces were included in what I was already quoted & paid. She has a shop full of mini-pendant lights & regular pendants. How could she not know they needed this piece? So, my husband drove back to the shop to pick them up. Each of these trips is about 60 miles. Do you all feel it was correct for her to charge us when it was her mistake?
Then, to top it off, the top is UGLY--@ least to me. It is a round box that extends down from the ceiling about 2-3 inches & had exposed screws sticking out of it. Those of you that have mini-pendant lights, do you have this same setup? I am about to decide I don't want these @ all. I heard on here that the mini-pendant lights were like jewelry for your kitchen. Well, my jewelry has a big, ugly piece on it.
These are WAC brand---the Lauren. I thought that was a good brand. Anybody know? They weren't cheap, even before the extra pieces we had to order.
And in fairness, she did offer to sell them for $60 a piece to us--the piece she claims she didn't know she had to order.
Thoughts/comments? Maybe I am just getting close to the end & getting bernt out & want the kitchen done.

| I'd return them if possible. Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience, it really takes the fun out of your new kitchen. |

| You are not being unreasonable here, that top piece is strange looking. I don't know what the rest of your kitchen style is, but will go with your first impression of the effect. You should return them since you were not made aware of the additional piece. As far as the charge for the additional piece, it is typical for small businesses to have to charge you for additional pieces if you would have paid for it on the first order and it does sound like they negotiated a little off of it for your trouble. The main issue is that you did not get a chance to see the entire light because of this mistake. |
