I see a lot of posts debating the merits of backs, swivels, fabric, leather, and I have learned so much about counter stools. More than I ever thought there was to know, actually.

Can someone educate me about the merits of the different kinds of bases? I see round discs on the floor, three legs, four legs, legs mounted in a square pattern, or a rectangle, different leg rests.....

Any information would be helpful.
