 o
cabinet species to complement walnut floors

We are doing walnut floors and am looking for suggestions for the kitchen cabinets. We are NOT doing white cabinets (this is not meant to be offensive, I actually love the look of white on dark but we want to try something different). We are looking for something to pick up the dark streaks in the walnut. Our kitchen is very open, lots of windows and few upper cabinets so we are not concerned with it being too dark.

Thanks..

RE: cabinet species to complement walnut floors

Hello Karen, I am assuming you are having American Black Walnut floors. Walnut has quite a bit of grain going on and you might want to do something a bit different with the cabinetry so both show well. I might suggest birch or Maple with a complementary stain. Neither wood has a great deal of wood grain and birch, especially, takes a stain well.
