Pictures of wood kitchens please!

Would love to see pictures of wood kitchens, not painted. If anyone has mixed cherry and maple, I would love to see. Transitional or contemporary. Thanks! :)

Thanks, lisa_a. I had no idea of the backstory, or that the jaw-dropping kitchen was not "real." This underscores the fact that certain kitchens really are a sub-category of PORN!

Really like seeing the pictures of stained wood kitchens!

Sorry to hijack the thread--Kitchenaddict, are your sisters cabinets custom or from a semicustom line? We are planning something similar in doorstyle and stain and hers caught my eye. Also, do you know the name of her granite? Thanks so much!

    Hi dfz...

In answer to your question regarding my sister's kitchen...she has Omega Dynasty cabinets...semi-custom. Her granite is called Fire Bordeux. She found her slab at Rio Stone in Carson, Calif. Here's another picture of the other side of her galley kitchen..It's a little dark, but thought you might like to see it anyway.

    dfz-
I've just been cabinet shopping with a friend/client and saw the same style readily available at Lowes (Diamond, KraftMaid, or Schuler/Medallion) and at Home Depot... they should not be at all difficult to find in any price range you're looking in.

You're welcome, still_lynnski. Did you read about the other virtual kitchens? They were all quite interesting.

"...expert render design expert." The previous sentence brought to you by the Department of Redundancy Department. Sheesh, where was my head?

    Gorgeous kitchens, everyone!

Love your question! We're also doing wood: oak floors and alder cabinets. Love to see finished (or almost) kitchens with different choices in countertop and appliance color. We're still at the "what do we both like?" stage, so thanks!

These cabinets are quartersawn red oak. The floor is white oak.

Cherry wood, mandarin stain, coffee glaze
Omega Dynasty (semi-custom) & Omega Custom
Polished Absolute Black Premium granite counters
Emser's "Vecchia Corte" Beige tile floor

BTW...Omega also has a custom line (Omega Custom) that carries most of the same door styles as their Dynasty line (semi-custom) albeit different names (e.g., Artesia in the Dynasty line is the same door style as Ashford in the Custom line). What's nice about the Omega line, is that you can "mix & match" b/w Dynasty & Custom...use Dynasty for most of your kitchen and just use Custom where needed. It helps to keep the cost down. We did just that. Most of our cabinets are Dynasty but we have 4 Custom cabinets.

It is so hard to find photos of kitchens with all wood cabinets. Just got a book from the library, 2010 Beautiful kitchens. Its a thick book and there is only ONE all wood kitchen in it. Most are white, some painted other colors and a few white with wood. Like white cabinets with a wood island.

Natural cherry cabinets with blue in the night antiqued granite. Our island is antiqued white over cherry.

    off topic:
Blubird, the assertive line of tile just under the uppers is a clever effect that gives us a lot to think about. What a unifying technique!

Thanks, florantha. We wanted to avoid breaking up the line of glass tile with the outlets/switches, so the only way to go was UP!

Would you provide more information on your backsplash tile? Maybe a close up photo? It looks great.

I love this thread! It's like taking a walk down memory lane and looking at the kitchens that inspired me -- and then to see kitchens that were in progress at the same time I was doing mine. Here's a few of mine.
Custom birch with wild cherry stain, black venata soapstone.

rjr220, I love the wood selection! Beautiful kitchens!

I fiddlefarted around with my photobucket account and now that first photo link is broken. Sorry:( So, here's another photo of the maple island and cherry perimeter.

I'm getting ready to order cherry cabinets SOON! LOL So it's so nice to see pretty nonpainted wood kitchens! I'm always drawn to wood, but there are so many pretty white kitchens here, that I was second guessing myself. I was afraid hardwood floors and wood cabinets might be too much wood! Thanks for the inspirations!

A little late but here is a picture of my almost finished kitchen.
The cabinets are cherry stained dark (custom stain) with Alaskan White granite. We moved in a week ago!

Here's my all wood kitchen - hope it's not too late: maple cabinets, maples butcherblock with black walnut edging, and (existing) red oak floors. I love it all!

Here's our kitchen refresh done last spring.

Original 1985 cypress cabinets (even original finish)..... I doubt that painted finish would have held up through four sons and 25 years! Hooray for wood!!!

We're not quite done, and I haven't posted any pictures yet (hopefully will have a final report soon!), but here's a sneak peak of our natural cherry cabinets with soapstone counters! This was mostly a DIY job.

    Sorry they're a bit blurry.

Mariposatraicionera, the walls are a Kelly-Moore color called Seattle. We were looking for a grey / beige. I think it came out more grey then beige. We are happy with it. I will post more pictures once I get everything cleaned up. It looks great with the dark brown. We are painting the adjoining room Revere Pewter. They are very close in color with the BM paint being more beige.

I'm nowhere near done but for the first time I can actually show some pics. These are cherry cabinets. Backsplash is Jeffrey Court subway tile and the backsplash behind the cooktop is glass tile that I made.

    kitchen addict,

If you are around, do you know how wide the aisleway is in your sister's kitchen? That is basically the layout we will have with the sink on one wall and the fridge and stove on the other like that. We will have a door to the outside porch also. I am interested to know if she likes that layout. Thanks and sorry to hijack thread.

  • kitchenaddict

    hi gooddogs..

I will ask her tomorrow about the width of her aisle..(Should I venture to guess? 5 ft?) I think she likes the layout and I have been in that kitchen many times during holidays and it functions very nicely. I'll get back to you soon!

In the meantime, more kitchen pics please!

    KA:)

  • kitchenaddict

    hi again gooddogs...

My sister made an educated guess from work...and she said about 5ft.wide. Hope that helps. She also said she likes her layout, but that it's all about what you get use to.

Attic Magazine has posted this kitchen recently. "We never thought weâÂÂd swoon over a kitchen with wood-tone cabinets, lavender tile and blue-violet counters. But this is one knockout babe, done up in summer florals that read from cobalt to lavender--a nod to the range of colors found in hydrangeas."

Kitchen cabinetry is Cherry (a medium stain). Countertops are Verdi Peacock with the exception of the tall part of the island which is a copper countertop. The wall tile is tumbled marble with copper tile inserts. Sinks are copper, appliances are stainless.

Love this thread! We've been hemming and hawing about counter color, light vs. dark, given that we'll have medium oak floors and medium alder cabinets. By sharing your finished kitchens, it gives us a chance to see how our kitchen might look if we choose different options.

drachiele, how high ARE those ceilings? And where did you get those lights? I've never seen anything quite like them. Your kitchen is a great example of when wall color plays a major design role, not just a little exposed wall here and there.

jody n so cal--love your kitchen! could you tell me what kind of tile you used in your backsplash? thx

  • Jodi_SoCal

FraidyCat, the backsplash is Jeffrey Court's Pietra Opus, Quartz Brick Fire & Ice. We changed out some of the clear glass pieces with a dark amber. Many people have found it difficult to find the glass pieces. The place we purchased them from stopped carrying them.
