Read the first few posts in this thread (about halfway down page 1 right now) & you'll find out a ton of great info, including several ways to post your pics.

Readers Digest version on how to post pics:
1. Open a photobucket account
2. upload pic to photobucket
3. Copy the html code under the pic
4. Paste code into your forum message

It will initially appear as a code but will convert to a pic when you submit the message.

Moonkat I read that post and followed the instructions:

Posting a picture from somewhere other than your Photo hosting account

Copy the following into the "Message" box where you want the picture to be:

{{gwi:1467847}}

Next, replace the http://www.XXX/image.jpg with the address of the image.

When you "preview" the message, you should see the picture

It seemed strange to copy and than erase most of it - am I reading that right?

lovetocook where are you posting the pic from - the picture still needs to be "hosted" somewhere on the web - not just on your computer. It needs to have the http://www... as part of its address.

The reason you're replacing all of that with stuff that seems very similar is basically to make sure that you don't make any errors in copying it - it's actually easier to copy the entire address than just part of it; because errors are all to common that way.

I didn't realize my pictures had to be on the web. I thought I could just cut and paste from my computer....I am reading the "How to insert a pic?" now and going to work through it after I make dinner. I'm desperately trying to figure this out because I want to post a "Help Me" message with pictures on my kitchen renovation that needs to move forward : ) Thank you bunches for your help!

lovetocook you are SO not alone in your confusion!! I can still remember the pain of trying to figure the whole picture posting thing out - now I have several photobucket accounts, some public, some private, for different posting abilities. Photobucket is really very easy.

And I looked through the thread that caligal linked to - definitely go there - it's a great thread & really explains the process well.

Thank you moonkat and caligal. The link helped alot - with all of that information I still stumbled around but I was finally able to post a message with my plea for help. If you have the time I'd love to hear your opinions. I'd insert the link but I don't know how!! It's entitled "I need help to finish my kitchen" with pictures : )
