Tell me about your porous granite countertops please

Hi Everyone,

This question is for those of you who have had experience with porous granite.

I am considering purchasing a pretty slab of granite called "Butterscotch". I couldn't find much info regarding it, so I called the granite yard and asked if it could be called anything else and was told it could be known as "Colonial Cream" or "Mellinium Cream". After doing a little research, it looks like this granite is known for being porous.

I am wondering what having porous granite means in daily life. Do you have to wipe things up immediately? If for example I were to spill some broth on the counter, would it soak in right away? Does it stain easily? Would you purchase a porous granite again?

I have never had granite before, so the idea of my countertops being porous makes me a little nervous. I just want to make sure I choose something that's not too high maintenance and something that's not absorbing every drop of liquid - because it seem like that would be unsanitary.

Any info on porous type granites would be appreciated!
