What's the deal on spammers recently?

I was reading an interesting question on stone fabricators in N. VA this morning and realized the thread was from 4 years ago. I checked the last entry, and sure enough, it's from somebody who registered today and is recommending his/her business - no commentary, just "this business is great." To top it off, the same person has resurrected at least 3 other old threads about stone in DC Metro/N.VA for the same purpose. "Sam3052" officially sucks. If I lived in DC/N.VA/MD, that place of business is where I wouldn't go first or ever.

Here is what I think: I betcha that we are not really getting more spam attempts than previously; they are just more evident. There was a recent change allowing old threads to be dredged up. Previously, if you posted to an older thread, the thread did NOT go to the first page. Now it does.

Sam3052 has been reported, BTW.
