cbo, I'll bet you've already thought of this, but you might want to paint your backsplash wall the color you are considering having the tile matched to. Then you can see if you really really like it. What a cool service! Thanks for letting the rest of us know about it!

Yes, we plan to do that this weekend. But, the paint won't have the glossy, crackle finish that we'll have on the tiles. Maybe I'll paint a piece a cardboard and then put a coat of something shiny on top of the paint. That may give us some idea of what the finished product will look like.

Wow, I didn't know they'd do this. Do you know how much their subway tiles are? I would paint a piece of thin MDF (you get get 1/4" at HD) with glossy paint, to better mimic the look of the tiles. It won't be crackle, but glossy would be more accurate, IMO, than flat.

Good idea with the mdf - we'll try it out this weekend. The subway tiles cost $20-$22 per square foot.
