Arena Stone in NJ has a lot of white marbles and I bet they have a lot of quartzites too. I got my calacatta caldia slabs from them. They are located just over the GWB. You can try PMI in LIC too. I would call first and/or check the websites to see what they have.

I saw some at Walker Zanger in Perth Amboy last year. Pricey but beautiful. Not sure what their inventory is now. Also, have you called mgstones in brooklyn (The Neolith distributor)? They has a huge inventory but I don't know if they have quartzite.

I don't know how far you are willing to travel..but I saw some beautiful macabus at European Granite and Marble and Hindustan in Farmingdale, NY(on LI-an hr from NYC). I know Hindustan has a NYC location(Brooklyn, i think)-you might want to try there first.

hey nycbluedevil, we are still looking a year later lol! we did visit hgstones and saw some nice slabs but they were all spoken for. all other slabs of white macubus we have seen there and elsewhere we did not like. either they had some blue or green veining or the background leaned too beige. we have since decided to either do one of the imitation marble quartzes with white subway tile backsplash or do a completely white quartz with statuario or calacutta slab (with dark gray veining) for backsplash. our cabinets will be white.

Ha--sometimes it takes a long time. I did calacatta caldia marble counterrops and backsplash. I love the gray veining in the marble.

NYCbluedevil, I've admired your kitchen ever since you posted your reveal. Can you tell us how you're liking your marble now that you've used it for a while. I loved the photos, but just wonder whether you think the etching issue has been a problem. Would you do marble, if you had it do to all over again? Thanks.

Another LI rec -- Nicola in Merrick. They have an amazing selection and I was so, so happy with their fabricator. We almost chose a beautiful quartzite, but ended up with Carrera marble and a Cosmic Black granite and they did an impeccable job fabricating both.
