Smurfette: Glad you like it as we do also. It's a bit larger than you've planned so not sure if it would fit your space or not. Finished dimensions including overhang is 57" x 58", though the angled corner allows for a generous clearance around my wall corner (around 60"). As both sides are working sides I do have the 42" aisles. Here is a copy of the layout with dimensions and few other views.

The most confusing part for me was understanding the 1-1/2" that needed to separate out the first row of cabinets from the second. That was to allow full door clearance for the little angled back cabinet. It's not that accessable, but I really like it to store things that I don't use that often. Also of note is that the granite top is supported with three steel rods as there was no place to install corbels (which I don't like anyway).

Regarding your island design it looks like you have some extra room in the overall length of the overhang. Have you thought about finishing off the ends with legs or something similar to balance it out?

Sorry for the delay in response. We have been traveling and I am just now back to focussing on kitchen. Well I am still in love with your island, but it is too large for my space, and I've tried to shrink it down to fit my space, but it's not working so well, so I came up with a modified, which takes advantage of the angled base end, but still keeps me with a 48 x 48 footprint.
