I have the same sink. My trash is on the left and my dishwasher is on the right. I have the garbage disposal in the small bowl and I opted to put the small bowl on the right as you stand in front of the sink. It works out just fine for me.
If I happen to have items soaking in the larger bowl, I like having the garbage disposal still available for use.
I also frequently have the cutting board over the large bowl and then I can scrape things right into the smaller bowl and into the garbage disposal

My dishwasher is on the left and trash is on the right, but I set up my sink the same way as badgergal. Works well for me.
