Quartz or granite suggestions with white cabinets

Hi, everyone. I'm struggling to figure out what to do about my countertops. The overall look I'm going for in my small 1940s house is a white "cottage" kitchen: simple white cabinets, chrome cup and button pulls, Kohler "Vinnata" faucet in chrome, a glass-front cabinet with grids, grids on the window, a French door, slate/stone-looking floors (actually ceramic) in a mix of browns and grays, white or gray or maybe marble subway tile backsplash. I originally wanted to do marble countertops, but I've decided against it for maintenance reasons. After much searching, I decided on Kashmir White granite. And then I went to pick out the slab and discovered I'd either have to live with a big black swirl on a large, prominent section of countertop, or a few solid black blobs (about 2 inches each) at the front of the counter next to the sink. I'm going to try a few other granite places to see if there's a better slab out there, but also thinking maybe I should have some quartz backup options, or some other white/gray granites to keep an eye out for. Help -- with photos if possible. Thank you!!!!

I was going for the same look as you in my 1940s colonial home. I searched and searched for a white granite/quartz that I loved...never found it. We decided on leathered jet mist and LOVE it. I couldn't be happier with that decision. I literally spent months searching for countertops - delaying our kitchen completion big time. But I love the final result

Just looked up some pics of "Jet Mist" on Houzz -- very pretty!! I was thinking of going lighter, but I'll have to see if I can find a place that has this darker one. It's nice that it's dark but not TOO dark and still has some movement in it. Beautiful choice!!!

many people like it as a classic look similar to soapstone but without the feel of soapstone. I was one of those people -- looking at soapstone (after giving up on white/light) and steered towards this jet mist granite. I love it in the leathered finish. It's a different/not common look (at least in my neck of the woods) but it is beautiful!! I am so happy I took my time with this choice.

Just saw some slabs of Jet Mist (honed and leathered) at a granite distributor near me -- beautiful! I think we might go with it if the color looks right with our particular floor tile. Have you had any problems with fingerprints or grease/oil stains?

After 10 years of dark granite that was a major chore to keep looking clean (we cook a lot), I definitely went LIGHT/WHITE this go around! I went with Silestone Lagoon and absolutely love it. It's so easy to clean and does a great job resembling real marble tops. Since I did my kitchen 18 months ago, Viatera has come out with some really nice options for this...called the Musica series. Be sure to check them out to. Roccoco and Minuet are the two that are most white/grey.

@Kitchen_ Reno : I am currently picking out counter tops, about to purchase Sea Pearl Quartzite, but would love to see a pic of your dark granite counters w/ white cabinets. Can you please post one? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure I'm getting Zodiaq Calacatta Natura quartz counters.It's so pretty, it's got a great creamy white background with warm veining, like warm taupe gray and I think it's going to be a nice bridge to my light vintage white cabinets and the vintage looking quarter sawn oak cabinets I'm using. I also liked Cambria Ella if wanting to go more gray.
