I have the restoration hardware "Madeleine" bar chairs. They are awesome! Somewhat French country in my opinion which is why I picked them. Here is my best picture of them.

Ballard Designs looks good on line. Haven't ordered from them for 15 years though.

I searched through pinterest and found a lot of different styles. Restoration Hardware has some cute french barrel back stools. Depending on price, you should check out overstock.com, home decorators, RH, barstools.com, tkcollections (they have the gorgeous french bistro chairs but no one there ever returned my designer's calls), lampsplus, etc. Good luck. After, no joke, about a hundred hours of research I finally settled on ours. And yes, I probably have too much time on my hands.

I've got the backless napoleon style counter stools from Pottery Barn. They've held up well so far, I have two kids, but they're not too rough on the furniture. They seem a little taller that the counter stools we had before. They look great and sturdy, but the woven seat might be a factor if your family is rough on furniture. I'm definitely with you on trying something before you buy it.

Thanks everyone! I checked out the restoration chair, but it was not counter height. I will look into Lamps Plus, but there is no store in CT, so I would have to order and hope it works out.
Lake girl- It makes sense that your stools are taller, because the Pottery Barn counter height stools are 26 inches, where most are 24. I wanted the chair with a back.
