| I am trying to decide on LED under cabinet lighting... my requirements are, dimmable, 2700 deg, low voltage with remote power supply.
From searching posts on here, I have found Environmental Lights and Kichler seem to have popular products. Are there any other models that are worth considering? It seems like the main issue with remote power supply LED fixtures is what kind of dimmer can be used for dimming. I use all UPB switches/dimmers in my home. I'd like to use a HAI or SimplyAutomated UPB dimmer to control the 120 side of the transformer to dim the LED lights. It is hard to tell from the manufacturers web site info whether these will work or not. I'd love to hear from people with any input on other models, or dimming/dimmers in general with these lights. |

| There are several experts over on the lighting forum and they seem "Pretty Responsive". Not that your not welcome here, but they specialize in lighting over at the Lighting Forum. Gary |

| You need a dimmable transformer, which is a transformer compatible with dimming, and you need a 'magnetic dimmer', which is a dimmer designed for a transformer. And then you may run into the problem that the dimmer requires a load of at least 40 watts, and your LEDs are unlikely to need 40 watts unless you have lots of countertop. Quite frankly, few LEDs give out enough light to make a dimmer worthwhile. You could consider inspiredled.com --- their products and responsiveness are well reviewed on Amazon. |

| Tresco Lighting has AMAZING LED lighting. My local electrician said he had never found any to be worthy yet...so I told him to come in to my showroom and see my new display of Tresco Elli 2. These are very high end....very bright and will last a LONG time....50,000 hours. They offer a dimmer switch as well as a remote control. An average kitchen with this lighting is around $700+ plus labor. They also offer a budget version (only 25,000 hours)...it's called "Ilo". You can check out prices online....see link below. | Wang, That link didn't load properly for me, so I don't know what you're talking about. Is there some medical study about LED lights and disease??? |

| Environmental Lights sells MaxLites, which are dimmable and do not require transformers. Get the warm white 2700K version, and the model with 33 LEDs / foot. Fabulous! Our electrician loved them...a breeze to install. They look great and are very bright. I don't dim them cuz of the way I work, but could and might for "mood." Environmental Lights is terrific...great service. You can buy a sample with a cord to plug in to see how they look. Re the dimmer The EL website tells you what they recommend. It's a pretty standard Lutron...you just need to get the one the recommend. You can buy them from EL; our electrician provided them. But if you have questions, just call EL...they are very helpful. I've posted a similar message in another thread and will probably bore you all silly by doing it again in the future. But we could not be happier. I spent a lot of time looking at LEDs. |
