Need help picking window treatments for almost finished kitchen!

Hello,

I am thinking about putting roman shades on our kitchen window and great room windows. I found a fabric I like at Lowes in the special order books. It looks more like a woven wood than a fabric. The colors in it coordinate very well with my granite and paint. I'm just wondering if the fabric is too busy, or would it make a cute roman shade??? Should I go with something that is a more solid color?It's difficult to picture with such a small sample. This is a big investment so I want to get it right, of course. I could use some advice! Here's a picture of the fabric and the window!

I think what you have chosen will look great! The horizonatal pattern in the shade will mirror the horizontal line of the subway. The subway is crisp and clean and the shade will add some texture! I say YES!
Would these shades be "working" shades or would they just be there for decor? and what direction does the window face?

Nice! Have you looked at bamboo shades? They are similar in color to what you posted. Not sure on price/fading/care vs the fabric, though.

I don't think the fabric looks busy at all. Matter of fact I think something with a little pattern would look good since your kitchen is rather monochromatic. Go for it!

I also like the fabric. I like texture. It is hard to tell from such a tiny sample though.

OT--Could you please tell me about your window sill. Is that a wood apron under the sill or is it tile?

I forgot to mention in my post above...I LOVE your lantern pendants! Are they from Ballard Designs? They look great in your kitchen ! :o)

Capegirl-It would be a working shade because we need the privacy at night. It would be up during the day. I think the window faces west and the front of the house. Also, the lights are from Capital Lighting. They were a really good price. I have the Ballard Design 12 inch Carriage House Lantern in the foyer and I really like it too.
