Colors are not uncommon, but usually muted. How bright are you talking? You can do whatever you want, but something bold is usually not recommended for resale.

But, sure, people go bold.

If you plan on selling the house at some point in the not distant future, it's best to stay conservative with things that are either expensive to replace or difficult to do, i.e.: painting cabinets or replacing them. All a potential buyer has to see is the labor or cost involved in redoing something like kitchen cabinetry to not even bother to look at the rest of the house.

On the other hand, it's your house and you should have the kitchen you want, right?
