Yes, I remember responding about the cabinet style. I would describe it as inset, recessed panel with a beaded edge on the frame. In reality though, I just gave our cabinetrymaker a photo of cabinets in a magazine and he replicated them as closely as he could.

Next step.. find a place for us to live while they tear the whole middle of our house, from foundation to ceiling & ductwork, apart.

I do have one other question-- do you have your layout posted anywhere on gardenweb so I can see what's where & the clearances? I will have a U-shaped layout, not quite as open as yours, but I've learned a lot from your progression.

No problem. Here's an aerial view of our kitchen that shows the clearances. The real island was moved slightly closer (2 inches) to the cooktop area due to the way the pipes ran for the prep sink. I think the clearances feel great though.
