The steel rack is footed. I have a 33 inch id sink so I wash the dishes that I hand wash and then allow them to air dry on the rack in the sink. I also purchased a Martha Stewart microfiber drying mat but I prefer to use my sink rack. I hated the way a standard dish drainer looked on my counter and I love my granite and don't want it cluttered.
