ikea fintorp ... diameter of the rod?

Does anyone have the dimensions of the rod that fits in the brackets?

I need a longer rail than they have to span a wall area, but I really like the accessories, and if I can use the brackets with my own pipe I'll be happy

Mine measure 5/8 inches...

Forgot to add that they can be linked together as one rail, except you then have a bracket (or two) in the middle of the span...

No way to mount middle bracket

I guess on my Ikea Pillaging trip I'll have to take a caliper

The Ikea website states the thickness measurement of the FINTORP in both imperial (3/4") and metric (1.60cm). I would trust the metric value more since all of Ikea's design is done in metric. 1.60cm converts to 0.63" which is just a hair bigger than 5/8" (0.625"). I guess Ikea just rounds up when converting from metric to imperial.

SHORT ANSWER: The true rod thickness is 1.60cm or 0.63"
