#1, edgy!! The darker areas will tie in your cabinets beautifully!!!

I like #2! I love a good swirl! #1 looks a little, to me, like a cheaper St. Cecilia. However, both will look great!

What is the rest of your house and decorating style like? If your overall look is more modern, then #1. If you go for a more traditional style, then #2. I always like it when rooms relate to one another in some way -- it makes the house feel cohesive and relaxing.

#2 because it is just so darn beautiful and compared to it #1 just seems so ordinary.

They are both beautiful and either one will look wonderful but I think I'd go for #2.

What do your cabinet doors look like? I like #2.

I like the softness of #2 and think the coloring would be easier to match a tile to.

I like the flow in #2, but I like flow in stone. I think both would look great. Hard to believe they're the same name.

I love stones with movement-so it would be #2 based on that..BUT, if the slabs are going to go only on the cabinets shown, then you might have to play around with layout to 'capture' the movement. You might be better off going with #1 then as it does pick up your cabinet color much more readily.
cal_quail, I can't believe they are the same stones too. #2 almost looks like Bianco Romano except the local BR slabs don't have the white areas.

I love both Alaska White Slabs and feel both would look great but I am learning a little more towards #2 due to the softer look and the white pretty patches are throughout the slab and just not on top.

I like slab #2. It seems like once slab #1 is cut down into countertop size pieces, the dark splotches will be very dominant.

I vote #2. It is lighter overall and think it will be a great contrast with your cabs!

Have you tried doing a rough template of either? Beautiful slabs with beautiful movement look very different in 24 inch wide swatches. I agree that #1 might look too blotchy in small doses, but you also may lose a lot of the movement in #2. I'd take some blue painter's tape to them and mark out rough sizes of what your countertops are so you can really see what little pieces would look like.
