I'm hoping for something less like a giant rectangle and more like a piece of furniture. I'm not sure how else to describe it. Seems really hard to find pics of what I'm looking for, I've been scouring the net and so far not much.

Is there any reason why you can't use some of the beautiful furniture like islands as inspiration? I would think you could just treat it as if it's like any other piece of furniture that is snugged up against a wall..
