cracked slab - one of two - what should I expect?

Yesterday the fabricator had a mishap that caused one of my two quartzite (superwhite) slabs to crack. This was immediately after they said they could install next week :(

I purchased my slabs back in May, having finally found the "perfect" superwhite - passed the scratch and lemon juice test - and with just the right amount of patterning. They are 2 cm thick, and so for our area, a bit unusual. Fabricator said he would get back to me today with an update on sourcing a replacement.

FWIW, the layout is one large island (needs one entire slab), and a 12-foot run of base cabinets, with waterfall edges on one side of each (i.e. one for the island).

I'd like the island waterfall to use a piece of the cracked one, as I know they will match. I would also like a piece of that cracked one to compare to proposed replacements. Have any of you experienced anything like this, and how did it come out?
