I had Canadel barstools and breakfast nook table and chairs. I thought the value was good for the quality/price and they do have a lot of options to chose from!

I went with Canadel for my nook, as I needed a fairly small, narrow table. I really like it! I'll post a pix.

What part of the country do you live in? We've got a lot of Amish craftsmen here in the midwest - they do an excellent job and they are very reasonably priced.

Downside is, you can't e-mail them or pay with a CC unless they have an "english" buddy who helps with that stuff.

I have a Dinec table/chair set in my breakfast room. I do not recommend this company. The construction was crude. The table top scratched very easily and the finish has not held up well. We could have had much nicer pieces for the price we paid ($3K back in 2001).

We almost went with The Joinery based in Portland (thejoinery.com). We could pick the wood, design the chairs and tables and they had templates / suggested designs you could work with. We wanted a madrone wood table and madrone often comes in small slabs and we were concerned their would be too many slabs. Their craftsmanship of products on their floor was fantastic.

We ended up getting a table from urbanhardwoods (urbanhardwoods.com) which was a total splurge. We went to their warehouse and picked out the slab unfinished (5 madrone planks make up 24" x 78" table) and we picked out the base and they did the rest. It is hands down our favorite piece of furniture in our house. We paired it with MCM chairs we bought off ebay. Definitely not cheap, but a purchase we enjoy every day as we routinely spend 2 hours having dinner at that table every night. We've had it 2 years and the quality is great.

I live in California. I have also seen some Bermex and simplyamish furniture in my area. Anyone have experiences with these.

We started this project after the holidays, went through many drawings and revisions. Now 6 weeks after demolition, our cabinets arrive tomorrow. Our goal is to bring our 1980's oak kitchen into the 21st century. In addition, we are making it more accessible for me - I have MS and use a power wheelchair.

I'm looking forward to all drawers under the counters, a side opening Bosch wall oven, a more accessible fridge, but most of all, I can/t wait to simply having a sink, dishwasher and garbage disposal again!!!
