RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Thanks guys! i really appreciate the positive feedback. Lakegirl- the wall color is BM Edgecomb gray, it really changes color with the light which makes it interesting, it can look tanish or grayish. the white cabs are BM white dove, and the gray ones are BM Stone harbor gray. kamkar- the faucet is a ROHLS- but it is the country series, which I thought was a great price for the quality.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

You've got a gorgeous job! Those windows are absolutely stunning. You've really utilized them well, too.
I also love the cool, clean colors.
Great job!

Oh! Looking out into your living area, I see the island (?) is wood. What is it and what's its finish? I love the contrast.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Wow, another be-still-my-heart kitchen! Congratulations!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Gorgeous. I love the cabs flanking the sink, and the way this room blends with the next.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Wow, what a stunning kitchen. If it were mine I could happily work in it all day. It's so wonderfully bright and spacious. Every detail is perfection. Congratulations!

Question about your microwave. I've been looking for a small microwave forever. Can you tell me how deep your cabinets are? The specs on the micro indicates that the depth is 13 3/4". You seem to have room to spare in your cupboard. Thanks, and enjoy your new kitchen.

RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Cefreeman- the buffet cabinet behind the eating table, was prexisting. we put it in only 5 years ago when we tried to update our kitchen, so we decided to keep it. It is not beaded inset like the rest, but like you, I thought it added nice warmth and contrast and blends nicely with the floors. It's a coco glaze I believe they call it, kind of like a pecan color. Oldhouse- the upper cabinets were increased to 15 1/4 deep to accomodate the microwave. we had one microwave that said it was 13 3/4 and then didn't fit because the back came out, so we had to return it. This whirlpool was the only one that fit true to size indicated, because it doesn't protrude in the back. Mtnrdredux and Marthaville- thanks for the nice compliments, both of your kitchens are stunning.

RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Michelle,

Thanks so much for sharing your kitchen pictures with the GW community.

It is stunningly beautiful! I'll love your colors, cabinets and layout.
And the details like the sconces next to the range hood
and the rustic wood shelves in the eating area
are wonderful and distinctive choices.
Bravo! (Keep those pictures coming.)

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Holy cow...took my breath away when I opened this post.

RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Oh Michelle, I am drooling over your kitchen. What an inspiration! Please tell me where you bought the two shelves on your wall when you have time. Enjoy your restful retreat!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Drool. Love all that polished nickel. Love the corners of your island. Love all the windows. Love it all. Is the hardware Schaub?

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Michelle, it's beautiful! What a great space. Did you go with the full freezer and fridge? If so, what brand did you end up with?
Also, I have a window seat just like that. I ended up going to a fabric store, buying a piece of foam and cutting it to size. Then I took a piece of cardboard, put it underneath and just stapled fabric to it. It was a lot cheaper than having a custom cushion made and took half an hour :)

RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Michelle-
I LOVE your kitchen and surrounding spaces! Could you share the dimensions with us? I have a difficult time with scale. Thanks and congratulations!!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Gor. Geous! Love the gray and how it and the wall color work together. SO MANY WINDOWS! Love the window seat and I was just thinking of doing little shelves like yours on the wall by our kitchen table, so yours are a great inspiration. What a wonderful space.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

love, Love, LOVE EVERYTHING! You must be so thrilled. Is your pantry on your gray cabinet wall or somewhere else? I love the idea of the cork board inside the cabinet. Congratulations!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Michelle, TY so much for posting! What an amazing kitchen and home you have. It is so refreshingly serene, functional and absolutely gorgeous !! Please post more pics!!

Can you also share the dimensions of the kitchen and island?
Is the living room (?) where the beautiful fireplace is, the entry to your house? I would love to see a picture from there going into the kitchen. Interested in how the buffet table divides the space.

What an inspiration!! Thanks again!!
Oh yes, I am a huge follower of katieob, LOVE that door too!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

I recall when you started and compliment you on a race run well. It's lovely.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

What a lovely airy uplifting kitchen! You are blessed to have so much natural light. You did an excellent job! Enjoy it for many years!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Fabulous! I know it is only "Almost Finished", but I don't think I can wait for the details. Please.... Atleast the small wood shelves, floors and hardware. I remember the sconces on the range wall since you have posted about them a few times and I love them, too. Ilove your pillows on the window seat - great color scheme!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!!! I AM SPEECHLESS!!!! THUD!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Egads, what a lovely kitchen. Congralations! The colorway is fantastic and I like the little touches, including the edge on the island and the lights on each side of the stove. The black door and touch of color on the stools is great. All that light is wonderful!

I'm searching for the dishwasher and the garbage..can you offer a hint or a pic? :)

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Oh, that counter window is to die for!! You must LOVE it! Love the pretty edge on your marble on the island, you thought of every lovely detail! Can't wait to see what you choose for a backsplash!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

LOVE!!!! Details please.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Everything about it is so pretty. Just what I would like to have in my dream kitchen. I absolutely love your glass cabinets down to the counters.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Beautiful kitchen!!!
Can you share where you purchased the open shelves or were they custom?

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Super gorgeous! You must be thrilled.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

What a wonderFul kitchen..! What do you plan to do for your window treatments!?

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

WOW!!! It all looks amazing! Congrats!! I love the sink window : )

A couple of questions- how high are you ceilings? How deep is your window seat in the center? Your windows look like they go to the top of the seat? How much room do you have for a cushion (I'm in a predicament with this)

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Okay had to post this one of my little one who turned 3 yesterday, enjoying her cake in her new kitchen!THANK YOU! to each and everyone of you for your nice comments, it means alot. i will list some details:
Floors-Mannington wide plank 5" blue ridge hickory-honeytone color.

Cabinets-Dutchwood beaded inset, shaker style with colonial trim small detail in door frame. Color is BM White Dove and BM Stone Harbor Gray.

Wall color BM Edgecomb gray.
Hardware-Appliance pulls, Cliffside Industries-Artisan series. Pulls- restoration Hardware-gilmore. Glass knobs- RH also. Latches-smaller ones from rejuvination Hardware. All in Polished nickel.
Appliances-36" Subzero( it's the unit on the left when your looking at it) the pantry is a mirror image of this on the right side. It's fully integrated with the frig on top and 2 freezer draws below.
Wolf 36" Gas range with griddle in middle.
Dishwasher- Miele fully integrated with panel on it, I believe it's the Futura Classic.
Microwave-cheap little whirpool in the appliance garage just for heating stuff up- it's great!
Wolf blower and hood insert-900CFM's.Wolf and Subzero ran a special where you save like 1500.00 by getting a mix of their stuff.

Sink- Shaws original farm sink in white
Faucet-ROHL country bridge series with soap disp. and sprayer in PN.I also got the extension spout from what I learned from this forum.
Counters- White Macubus- Calacutta Quartzite. Looks alot like marble and it's very durable, won't etch, i love them they look like glass in the light.
I had an original piece of cabinetry in wood like a pecan color with a cocoa glaze behind the eating area.So there are 3 cabinet finishes. I like how the touch of wood warms up the cool colors.
window seat cushion covers-ETSY, love them and they are very reasonable.
Stools-clearance from Home Decorators Collection, I think they were only like 65.00 or 70.00 each!! Nice touch of color and great price, also the no back doesnt crowd the space.
Dimensions- somebody asked for this, but I am going to estimate. i believe the island is 3 1/2 wide by 6 feet.the sink wall is like 11 feet. the range wall is like 10 1/2 feet. the gray wall of cabinets ifs like 11 1/2 feet long. Not sure how big the kitchen is exactly. But I think there is enough space. We left 43" from sink to island. and there is like 53" from island to the gray cabinetry. the only tighter area is the island to range, I believe that is only 40".
Sconces next to hood-hudson Valley- Monroe wall sconce in PN.
my other lighting is on backorder- It's from Circa lighting- I will post pics of that and the backspash when it's done.
Pantry has the rollout draws with a cork board inside for calandars and stuff. We did the Revashelf for post and pans in the blind corner. we did dividers for pyrex.we did the 2 tier divider with a knife block below.
And lastly the Sheves that everyone seems to like. Funny, I had a vision of getting these rustic shelves on that wall to warm up the space. Couldn't find anything, thought I would have to get them made, then I found these from West Elm, and they were on sale! They are very nice in person. the wood is rustic looking and they have nice black brackets to tie into the black door that i had to have because it looked great in Katie's kitchen! LOL!
everything I learned was from this forum, so many thanks, I will post some more pics and more to come when it's done..thanks again for looking! Michelle

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Fabulous!!! The colors are gorgeous, and I love the attention to detail. I am very envious of all the light and your amazing view!! Can't wait to see more photos and learn more about all the details. Congratulations!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Zowie!!!! That is one gorgeous kitchen (and a really cute 3 year old) - Love the windows, love the chocolate sign (my MD wrote a script to have dark chocolate and a glass of red wine daily....)
Love the layout - what else can I say - other than it almost makes me think I should have done a white kitchen!
Wow!!!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Beautiful! I might have to steal a few of your ideas:)

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Fabulous!!! One of the best kitchens I've ever seen. Wow!!! The grey cabinets, natural light from all those windows, and those glass front cabs that seem to visually extend the windows. You have impeccable taste. Congratulations and enjoy :-)

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Steph- u were wondering where the trash was, they made it look like 2 draws.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

I see you had great inspiration (3 year old in "Just do it" t shirt. Fabulous kitchen and house, view, etc. Love the shades of grey. Thanks for posting.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Steph- u also asked where the dishwasher was, I was even able to get a latch on there to really throw people off! LOL! you don't actually have to turn it!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Rev a shelf that extends out for pots and pans in blind cabinet.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

love the sink pullout to hold all the cleaners, and the spot for the sponges, it's the little things that make us happy!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

We also tiled our laundry room which is off of the kitchen. I copied it from beekeeperswife! another great idea learned from GW!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Gorgeous!! Enjoy it you've earned it! Could you tell me alittle about the countertops? What material? Do they stain, burn chip? Care for them. R they as expensive as granite?? Thanks for sharing!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Forgot to add in the details, some mentioned they liked the edge on island, it's called an "O" edge has one extra detail(line) compared to the ogee. I did the eased edge on the rest.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Twingle- quartzite is suppose to be a very strong stone, stronger than granite, I was told. It's more dense, so less chance of staining, doesn't etch. I paid around 90.00 a square foot. someone from the forum from texas only paid like 80 I belive, I guess it varies from about 75-100.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Thanks so much for those pics. I have total and absolute faux drawer and hidden DW envy. ;)

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Absolutely gorgeous! I love every detail, you can tell you put a lot of time into your plan. I would love to see more pictures of the eating space and your great room, they look gorgeous! I am hoping to use DW also!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

It's fabulous. Love your black door. The eating area with shelves looks like a magazine layout. You done real good.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Michelle16, thank you for posting ur photos. I had seen some pics during cabinetry install and was really hoping you would post when completed. It is beautiful! All I can say is WOW!! Back to looking at the photos! It is one of my inspiration kitchens!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Michelle16, can you share where you got the beautiful quartzite? It's just gorgeous!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Wow!! It is really lovely. You did a fabulous job. I bet you are thrilled -- I would be!

Thank you for sharing it with us!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Very pretty!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Did u see my questions? I think we posted at the same time : )

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Michelle, I knew when I read your posts your kitchen would turn out amazing and I was right. It is gorgeous. Great job, I bet your family and friends are thrilled for all your hard work in putting it all together. GW is fantastic for the help. I love Katieob kitchens too. I love your counters, the island edge is stunning. Even better you can use it without fear of it too!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

But I want to know....

are there any Advil left in those bottles strategically placed in the spice drawer?

And of course you know how much I love it. I'm so glad how the corner cabinet came out. We chatted a lot about that one and I told you how much I hated my lazy susans. You have implemented the exact vision I was trying to convey. Well Done!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Silly question - where did you get the little rug in front of your sink? I've been looking for something like that.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Thanks again guys, everyone has been so kind! FISHIES- my ceilings are 9 feet. I measured the window seat and it is 16 1/2 deep. this was existing to the house, and yes you are right the window goes right to the sitting part, ther's only like 1 inch there, so I might not be able to put a cushion there. I never had one before either just the pillows, we don't use that as our eating area, my table is in front of it, so for me it's okay with just the pillows to have coffe, etc. but for you since you will be eating on it, I would allow rrom for the cushion. your kitchen is going to be amazing because of all the thought you have put into it.
Bee- you crack me up! yes I am always stocked up on advil with a 17 , 13 and then 3 year old!!!
Mags-I got the quartzite from Reliance in Newark Nj, and the fabricator was Atlas also in Newark, NJ.
MPagom-not a stupid question- the little rug is from Ballard Designs.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Acouple people asked for some shots of the great room, and a better shot of the eating area. I just took some, still a bit dim out, and my camera really stinks but I will post some now.Sorry if they are alittle blurry.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

OMG! Michelle it is stunning. I am so glad that you posted these pictures. I was dying to see your kitchen. First because I knew from your earlier posts that you had great taste and secondly for selfish reasons- they are Dutchwood cabinets. They are so gorgeous. Your cabinets are also inset but have a bead ( which is beautiful). Mine will not have the bead but I still am excited to see how great they look.

I will be looking at these pictures over and over for several days/weeks I am sure.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Hi Paula! I will email you, sorry things have been crazy here! Thanks, Michelle

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

BTW, those stools are great! I cannot believe the price you got. I love Katieob's stools but I looked at the price she paid and it was too steep for me. I would love to buy those. Did they have a bunch of colors? Are the rush seats comfortable to sit on or will you get a pad?

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

I won't get a pad with 3 kids, only uncomfortable with shorts-pinchy the kids say! LOL, but for the price, I love them! I don't remember how many colors there were, maybe only the blue was on clearance? I was scared of the bright color but it goes perfectly with the blue, citron and putty color dishes/mugs in my glass cabinets, and my dining room wall color.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

I love your rev-a-shelf and also the laundry drying rack! Such simple things but they can make all the difference. Where did you find that drying rack? DH and I saw one somewhere and have wanted one ever since and yours looks large enough for the many things I air dry.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

absolutely gorgeous! those open shelves with the picture frames are STUNNING!!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

thanks! yes had to have the Black and White pics of the kids displayed, the drying rack is from Ballard designs, holds alot!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Thanks for pointing me to Ballard Designs. I knew I'd seen a lot of great indoor/outdoor rugs online, but I couldn't remember where. I need one for my entry. We seem to have the same blue/green/gray color scheme going. I have samples of some of the prints on your window seat pillows and I have the same little dish towel you have in front of the sink. Pretty sure I got it at Kroger and I have all the matching plastic dishes and glasses too!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Ditto to all of the superlatives, Michelle - what an amazing, perfect-in-every-detail job you did! That last picture of the whole kitchen is just stunning - especially love the range hood; it commands that wall without being overwhelming. Beautiful proportions. Congratulations, big time!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

What a beautiful kitchen - your quartzite is gorgeous! I wish I could have found that!

Are going with the lantern pendants? I love them. I wish I had found them before I put in mine.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Tks guys, FINESTRA- this is a picture of the pottery barn lantern I went with for the foyer. Those blue lanterns were like 2,000 so way out of my budget! So i wanted a lantern somwhere, this looked good in the entry! I am going with the visual comfort yoke pendants that katieob has in her kitchen, and the reed hanging shade for the table from visual comfort.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Wow it's beautiful, Michelle! Congratulations.

I too was stumped on where was the dishwasher and trash.
Very clever.

Enjoy, I'm so jealous. :)

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Hi Michelle, Your home is just stunning. I love the colors and EVERYTHING about your style.
Thank you so much for including all the details in your finishes and for all the added pictures. Now I have a better idea of your space.
Where is your front entry? do you walk from it past the beautiful armoir? or is it in the hallway area after the armoir? what is behind the range wall? where is the laundry room from the kitchen?

Ohhhh my, I am just drooling....TY again so much for sharing!!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Very beautiful, great details. Love the quartzite and the hidden gems (garbage and DW). And you DD is super cute too! Congrats on being almost finished!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Michelle16, can you share where you got the beautiful quartzite? It's just gorgeous!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Your kitchen looks terrific.

When you get the Reed Hanging Shade, be absolutely sure to examine the shade itself right away. I have had to return all my VC shades at least three times now due to poor manufacturing--massive color variation, wrinkling and buckling, etc. So pay close attention when yours comes in.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

I've seen the word 'stunning' a few time here, and it's the exact right word. The colors and details are tailored and lovely at the same time. My favorite thing is how the LIGHT is the star of the show.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

You held nothing back! To DIE for, Michelle! I have been checking back frequently and was THRILLED to see this post! Yay! Love IT!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

So beautiful!!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Yay !!!!

It looks BANANAS! You must be beyond thrilled!
Thanks for the shout outs. I stole the black door idea way back from a GWer called " Dotcomgone". Can't take credit....

I am totally jealous of the grey wall of cabinetry. It is perfection.
The light and airy feeling is so great. You did an awesome job.

I am very happy with the VC Yoke pendants and the Reed pendant over our breakfast table. (I luckily didn't get any lemons like Marcolo mentioned.)
I, too, am coveting an Urban Electric Chisolm lantern. Not happening in my foreseeable future......Your PB one looks fantastic.

Your kiddo is adorable! Enjoy your home, looks amazing.

Cheers,
Katie

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Wow!!

I bet you will get a few jaw drops when guest enter the front door.

You did a beautiful job. I am loving every detail. Enjoy!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Congratulations!

Your kitchen (and house) look fantastic. I could live in this kitchen. Everything just looks perfect - especially your little cutie.

Enjoy!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Beautiful kitchen! Wishing you the best in your new space!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Michelle: some questions for you about the hood. I am having some trouble choosing the insert and deciding on a height.

1. How deep is your hood ( insert and/or wood surround)
2. What is the height of your hood from counter top to base of the hood?

Thanks so much. I keep looking at your kitchen pictures. Is your back splash wall going to be the range wall? What have you chosen for a backsplash?

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

GOFIGURE- i took this picture to show you where the entry is located. Kitchen is in the back of the house, you can see the gray cabinetry on your left. so the 1st door on right off the kitchen is the laundry room, next door is half bath, the double doors on right after that are closets. The room behind the range is the dining room.
Thank you soooo much for all these kind words, it means alot, as nothing seemed to go easy with my reno.
Pball- I will measure the hood now for you and post back!
Katie- thanks for posting! Both your kitchens are stunning, but the latest was my inspiration. It feels so bright and homey and I was wanting to capture the same. so I hope you don't mind I copied the black door, the lighting, the stools, and I tried to copy the clear jars with the labels, but could not find them anywhere! Had to settle for just clear ones from Crate and Barrell, if you see this, Pleases let me know where you got the ones with the labels!! LOL!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

sorry GOFIGURE, here's the picture

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Michelle- I too love the clear glass jars. Try and google Anchor Hocking canisters or glass jars and you should find a number of sites to purchase these jars in various sizes.
I have them "pinned" until my kitchen is finished and then will purchase.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

The prettiest and most functional kitchen I ever seen.
Lots of great ideas. Simply gorgeous!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Just saw this this morning! What can I say? It is OMG beautiful! Love everything!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Michelle, Thanks for the latest picture. My goodness, your home is so beautiful. I can't thank you enough for sharing w/all of us.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

This is amazing! Every bit of it! I loved looking at your pictures!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

PBALL_ I measured the hood for you. The hood is 30 3/4 from the stove. It is 24 deep, the wolf insert is 22 1/2 deep. I know I have read that you want a deep insert because of grease capture. I think they sell ones that are not as deep at like 19 deep. hope that helps.I also think by code the hood should be at least 30" from counter.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Thanks Michelle
I was thinking 30" was a good number but it helps to see it. I was set on doing a 18" or 22 1/2" depth hood insert but the I got a lot of feedback that I need to go deeper, especially since the high output burners are up front. I am going to call Trevor at Eurostoves and see what he says. The other issue is budget. I am willing to go deeper but if it costs $1000 more then I will just go with the 22 1/2" insert.

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

So incredibly stunning! Congrats! Where are the stools from?

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

pball- I don't think u can go much deeper than 22 1/2 with the insert, since most hoods only stick out 24-26 inches, with the moldings and stuff mine is like 26,how deep do they make the inserts? I know wolf's deepest is the 22 1/2 which I got, I think that's plenty, no need to spend more, IMO.
Phylhl- the stools are from home Decorators Collection, clearance at like only 65 or 70 bucks, a steal!

Can't get enough of this kitchen! Can you tell me the dimensions of your island, and what your aisle widths are?

Thanks so much!

Michelle,
just love your kitchen and can't wait to see your backsplash. Now that the kids are in school I have to come up with one for my kitchen too...

Favorite things: got to be that wonderful cabinet that goes down to counter height with glass on 3 sides. Just awesome. Love that you can see the dishes. And I also have a 2-stage rev-a-shelf and it has been amazing. It also is popular with all the guys when you show off your kitchen. My husband loves to show his friends.

Michelle,
That's one fantastic kitchen!
Soooooo much light.
The 3 sided glass upper cabs, the countertops, the island details, it's all very well done.
When's the pool party?
Enjoy!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Let me add one more belated WOW! It's all gorgeous and it came together so quickly. I love the gray cabinets and the glass sided cabs are amazing with all those windows! I think I'm going to try to steal your under sink pullout arrangement. Congrats on a stunning room.

Does anyone know if dw GC/builder discount apply for reno or just new construction?

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Michelle, I know you and I posted on the white macaubus threads. I was waiting to see your kitchen since I knew you were going to use the stone too. It came out beautifully! You must be so happy!

I had to crack up about your shelves. We were also going to do two reclaimed shelves in our bar with antique brackets. We ended up with ones from Ballard Designs! They're great quality and real wood. The iron is superb. But it was difficult to go the reclaimed route for this type of thing!

So your entry light...did you end up with the PB lantern?? It looks just like our two entry lanterns! I love them!

I'm in the process of having our window seat cushion made right now. It's been tough finding someone to make it that didn't charge an arm and a leg that would do a good job. I can't wait to get it. I'm hoping another week and a half.

Again, your home and kitchen are stunning!

RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Michelle, Truly a beautiful home, congratulations - are you a decorator? If not, then you earned your degree during this process, right! We have been trying to find a white Quartzite. Really like the inset cabinets with the piano hinges - we are using this style again, in our new kitchen. The shelves and the blue wicker stools are a nice compliment! Where do you put the plates, etc. - in the drawers by the sink or maybe in the island? Do you have five - ten favorite things, starting with #1 favorite? Thanks for all the inspiration, looks like it is great for adult parties and for the family!

RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Hi everyone! I am sorry I am responding late, my kids have been sick. Thank you all again for such kind words!
Mags, i will send you an email right after this!
Steph- my island I believe is 3 1/2 wide by about 6 feet long. The dimmensions inbetween isles is about 43" for the sink area.about 54" for the counter to the frig wall area. the range to counter is only about 41".
colorfast- yes you are right the men like the steel in the reva shelf, it's right up their alley!
Babs-Yes I did do the PB lantern in the foyer. I really wanted lanterns in blue for my island, as I'm sure u remember talking me through that! But they were too large for the space so I put one in the foyer and I really like it!
Nutherokie-thanks for the compliment, because I can not wait to see your's finished, your kitchen is AMAZING so far.You have done an amazing job.
Hopmom- as far as the specs of the cabinets, my 2 cabinets next to the window are 30" wide, I upgraded all uppers to 15 1/4 deep. The hood is 5 feet wide. The pantry matches the fridg. which is 36" wide. The open shelving I believe is 30" wide. The glass cabs in gray I think are 15" wide.Hope that helps!
Rose of blue-thanks for such a nice compliment1 No, I am not a decorator, I just truely love this kind of thing. I basically put 2 years of thought into it. I was suppose to start my kitchen a year before I actually did, but My daughter got very sick, and we put it on hold. So I had alot of time to change my mind and think of things. You asked for 5-10 favorite things. I think 1 of them is the fact that I decided to go for the gray cabinetry. I was scared to just do a wall of it(how would the crowm molding match up,etc.?)but in the end, it breaks up all the white and I really love it.2nd- i love my counters- I really wanted marble but didn't want the etching, and I thought this quartzite wouldn't even hold a candle to marble, but I really love it, the veining is so natural and it looks like glass in the light. 3rd- I decided last minuite to change the edge around the island to go around the posts.I was going to do the eased like the rest because I didn't want anything too fancy, but in the end it added a nice touch and really makes the posts stand out without being too much.4th- we replaced our tiny window over the sink with a counter height one with transoms. We have a nice veiw of the pool to see the kids now from the sink, also we have southern exposure here so the light shines in all day and there are beautiful sunsets that we capture now.5th-my sconces next to the range- not sure why, but I just love these little suckers! I love the industrial feel of them, and they are a nice compliment to break up all the wood on the uppers.
In the end I was happy with all the choices I made, however getting there was not easy. We literally had a problem with everything. There wasn't an item we bought that wasn't damaged, problems with alot of things, it's hard as everyone I'm sure goes through it, but in the end it all works out. Thanks again for looking and taking the time to say nice things!

willtv- sorry I forgot to tell u, your welcome anytime to take a dip! LOL!

RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

roseofblue- sorry missed the question about where I store the plates,etc- My plates, mugs and bowls are all in the glass cabinets. I went and bought new stuff from crate and barrell and pottery barn so it looks nice but can be used for everyday.
The ugly mugs that I couldn't part with, and all my 3 year old's cups etc. are in the draws under the glass doors next to the dishwasher, hope that helps!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Michelle, Can you please provide the dimensions of the entire kitchen, sink to fridge wall and range to end of island? Thanks, I keep going back to look at your pictures, so beautiful!

 o
RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Michelle,
I see that in some places you opted for the valance but in the other places such as on the island is that what the standard baseboard looks like? Jason has had a hard time describing it to me. I am not sure whether to do valances or the solid baseboard on my island. I did a valance at the sink. I think it may look lonely though to only have the one valance. I can't do it at the stove since it is a range and I don't really have a spot where I can balance out valances such a you did with the refrig and pantry ( love that!)

RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

snbtwins- i measured for you, the window wall to fridg wall is 16 feet. the range wall to the end of the island is 12 feet.Hope that helps.
Pball- i put the open carved toekick on the spots where it bumps out only, so it stands out. So the sink is bumped out 2 1/2 feet, which i love, it gives me alot of extra room behind the sink and makes it stands out nicely. The fridg and pantry also bump out alittle bit, just enough to distinguish the 2 diff. bottom moldings.I did regular base on the rest. Most people do not do base moldings on their cabinets. I guess they feel you can hit them alot.we don't wear shoes in our house, so for us it's not a problem. I really wanted the finished look on the bottoms.I don't think they consider the island standard. There is a base molding on there. I think standard for them is having it open on the bottom, hope that answers your question.

Looking at your photos again (because mine is being installed right now!!!) and I have 2 questions:

How are you liking the island counter shape, specifically the ins and outs at the corners? The posts, panels and moldings are just lovely, and I love how the counter looks - wondering how it's working for you.

Your trash pull out - would you mind terribly measuring the opening and telling me what trash cans you have there? Mine has come out much smaller than I'd envisioned and none of the small trash bins I tried will fit. They fit in the rollout tray but not through the opening.

Thanks - and again, gorgeous kitchen!

RE: Almost Finished...lots of pics

Michelle, Yes, new stuff from crate and barrel & pottery barn so it looks nice but can be used for everyday - love that idea! May we ask what pattern and colors are the new sets? Your plan works 'cause the glass cabinets look great! We have le crueset in Caribbean blue and some pottery barn, so far. But first we are trying to decide on the painted cabinet color! Our kitchen has a peninsula and no island, so we cannot use the island for an accent color. Have always wanted turquoise blue, not too bright & not too green, there are so many hues! The floor will be hand-scraped maple, so the blue will look good, I think! We are still looking for the Calacutta Quartzite (do you live near southern Ohio) or else we may use Statuary or Calacutta Marble. Thanks for sharing, this gives us all confidence that we will be finished, someday!
