This Houzz article is brilliant. I am one of those rare people who likes my kitchen separated because I don't lie to see a mess while eating, but many people vacillate between the two.

    Thanks, Messy. :) There are some nice examples there. One option for hiding cooking mess I didn't see discussed but is illustrated in more than one picture would be to recess part of the kitchen away from the open-view area (cousin to just narrowing the view opening) so view is blocked to it.

    BTW, we have sliding doors in our vacation mobile home over 50 years old that are still working well on their original mechanisms. It's a shame they have not been used more.
