Backsplash detail questions

Many changes will happen (stain, paint, new appliances, etc.), but I'd like to talk about the backsplash. We're having beadboard paneling installed and having the splash stop at the cabinets. The counter splash will be gone.

Here's the one end.

Here's the other. Side note - my wall color is actually all the same.

This is the trim I'm planning to use along the bottom. No trim at where bb will meet upper cabs.

1. Should the same trim be used going up the side edges - miter joint together?

Or should the bottom be end mitered and use a small dowel rod at the edges to finish it off?

2. Is there a correct measurement for how high the bb should go between the cabinet and window?

3. Refrigerator is in the middle of cabinet run. We're running bb the whole way behind. Should the trim continue straight across and behind or stop and be mitered on each side of the refrigerator?

I'm not quite sure I see all the nuances. I really like the trim in the pic with the soapstone counters and think that would look great with yours. Will you be able to see behind your fridge? I'd think the trim piece would look best beginning and ending with the counters.

I wouldn't. The trim is a substantial base, not a delicate accent.

The end can be "returned" or mitered and so can the bead board. The dowel doesn't look bad either.

No, but I'd stop it at the cabinet bottom.

If I'm understanding you correctly, I'd continue the trim.

Just to give you another picture to consider, this was our former kitchen where we had beadboard under to upper cabinets. Here we had the 4" granite backsplash and the beadboard sat on top of it. At the top we had a trim board with shaker pegs. On either end of the cabinet we had a corbel which made a nice ending point.

Browneyes - The trim shown in the photo above the one with soapstone counters is what we've purchased. It measures 1-1/8".
We're going with a counter depth refrigerator so you actually won't see behind. It'll be a tight fit.

Would you use the same trim at the top or the dowel rod? And you'd have the trim in line with the cabinet bottom?

Maybe the dowel, but not the trim.
