Protective Finish on New Cabinets?

Posted by MeMcG (My Page) on

Does anyone put wax, furniture polish or other treatment on their new kitchen cabinets to help them stay nice? I'm now very concerned about splashing, etc. Any suggestions? Thanks!

If you have a good quality finish system from the manufacturer, adding gunk on top of it will actually damage the finish, not protect it. A plain bit of soap and water cleanup is all that is needed.

Thank you. I had never heard any mention of applying a coating, but I just thought I'd check to see what others are doing. Thanks again.

Most kitchen cabinets are finished with a post-catelyzed conversion varnish. All that is ever recommended is lukewarm water and a dash of soap.
The only problem I could see if the cabinets are put in place before the cabinets cured.
