I prefer having a bit of an overhang with the stone ( the
1/8" to 1/4" option...)

hope that this helps explain why (possibly) your Fabricator is saying
what he is saying...(this could be one of the reasons)

Thank you Larry and Kevin for the help. I'll have to ask some more questions.

A good grade 100% silicone should not "yellow" or shrink. I have a zero reveal sink in my kitchen going on 4 years now and have not had to replace the caulking. Sink gets used (and abused) daily. I find it really odd that he would mention something like that, but that is my opinion only.

On second thoughts - maybe he uses a latex based product which very well could do as he suggests.

My guess is they're telling you that to try to get you not to do a zero because it's too hard. It's hard to cut granite exactly to the shape of the sink and our fabricator refused to do a zero reveal because it was too hard. If you really want a zero reveal look for someone who will do it.

cork2win Can't go with another fabricator as they already have my granite at their shop. I'm hoping they will be able to do it when I talk with them next week.

Here are pictures of the 2 sinks in my kitchen - both with zero reveal and caulked with clear silicone. They have, as I have stated, held up extremely well :)
