Would these bar stools work?

Do you think these modern barstools would work in my kitchen? I saw them in person and they were stunning. Tell me if I'm so far off in left field... I want dark chocolate brown so it doesn't take away from the island, but I thought that metal legs would make it feel more open.

Leather and brushed chrome bar stools. They look weird and stretched wider in the photo, they actually are quite minimal in width (17" at the widest part and 14.5" for the seat back) and have a low profile which I like (I think they don't even peek over the counter).

I originally was thinking of something more safe like these leather parsons chairs. But I don't like the idea of them being too brown as our floors and island are brown. I want them to blend but not disappear.

Any other barstool (technically counter stool) styles would be much appreciated!

Not sure of the style for our kitchen table yet but we know it will be round. We may do a grey painted antique-looking table. I don't want to do more brown...and glass with a metal base would look nice but feel to formal. Kitchen chairs will be upholstered and all armchairs so they're comfy, in a neutral colour. (By the way, I don't want the island stools and kitchen chairs to be the same, as I don't like matchy-matchy furniture.) Kitchen chairs will be similar to these ones. If we decide to do a pattern on the chair, it will likely be a tone-on-tone fabric rather than this bright punchy orange one - I like the punches of colour to be in the accessories.

I like the (first) barstools for exactly the reasons you mention: the dark brown will tie in with the island; the low backs won't obscure the view of the kitchen (plus they'll provide support for your back when you sit in them eating your breakfast!); the chrome of the legs pulls in your hardware, and the lines of the legs are clean and modern, but not in a way which is antithetical to your kitchen.

I also love your proposed breakfast table armchairs! Beautiful and comfy looking. Isn't this exciting? Look at how close you are!!!

Love them. The metal legs will look gorgeous against the dark wood.

Love the stools, love the chairs, this is gonna be one amazing space. Have you thought at all about a Saarinen Tulip table, or would that be too crazy modern? You can get them in wood, marble, laminate, granite, round, oval -- lots of choices. Just a thought. And a link....

Petlady - that's a brilliant idea!!! I was looking at pedestal tables and they didn't feel right. You said they come in wood? Would it be a wood top with a metal base?

I love the bar stools! I think they'd look fabulous next to your island and would look much better than the higher-backed parsons style alternative. Love the metal legs, too!

Thanks folks! I'm going to find out if I can take one home just to try it out. I think it meets our needs, especially since hubby preferred stools and I wanted one with backs as I hope to be spending a lot of time at the island! The tops of the stools are 35" and our island with countertop is slightly over 36", so the stools won't even peek over the countertop at all.

I really like them as well. Actually, love alot of stuff on that website. Wonder if they ship to the US. Just be aware that leather is very cold to sit on. We have a leather couch and I don't really enjoy sitting on it, especially in the winter. I do love the stools though!
