Hardware pictures - function question

So I have been collecting these antique pulls and handles on ebay, now have enough, but most of them are smaller than what is recommended for larger drawers. I have heard 1/3 size is a nice balance. These will be much smaller - they did not make big Eastlake bin pulls or handles back then (nor are there any reproductions out there).
Two questions for the below pics:
1. Will the pulls work? Our cabinet maker says putting two pulls on is a mistake, as people tend to yank on just one and eventually the glides don't work - I can attest to yanking on just one in our dining room built-ins, and I don't like using two handles. Will a 4" pull work on a 24" drawer? As in will the drawer open ok? If I'm sacrificing design for my desired pulls, that's one thing, but function...
2. The pulls are all different sizes, and the handles are different again. I think it looks ok, does anyone see alarm bells design-wise?

I think they look great!! If you had very wide drawers the pulls might look too small. Fab hardware!

The last picture is of the widest drawers with the widest pulls. Do you think they look ok?

To my eye, a tad small. BUT given your situation, i wouldn't worry. The hardware is great, and its the widest you can get. Such a small detail like that wont be noticeable with the beautiful kit you are creating. Go for it!

Oh, and i think two pulls on such a narrow stack would be too much. Too busy.

Ditto what breezygirl said, they look great the way you have them pictured. Two would be too busy. Please keep posting pics, would like to see more of your kitchen. Best, oldbat2be

I have 2 pulls on my 36" drawer, but only 1 on the 24". I agree - you only need one on your drawers. But I will say that I had two knobs on my 1961 36" Woodmode drawer, and I only used to pull one most of the time. That drawer still worked perfectly in 2011 when I sent it to ReStore. So if you had a very wide drawer, it wouldn't be a tragedy if you needed to put on two pulls. How cool that you found all those antique pulls!

Great job! I think they look great and I would stick with one if under 24- 27 inches so you are golden! |

I think they look perfect as they are. Remember that this current era of giant oversized pulls will pass in time, so all things are relative. My even larger drawers have 1.5" knobs in the center and work splendidly. Go for it! And yay to eBay!

Those look GREAt! They are very handsome. Did you try petting them in the middle of the drawer, instead or the rail? Just a thought! Nancy

Hi, Nancy - no, I hadn't thought of that! I went looking and saw that yes, sometimes people do put the pull in the middle of a shaker drawer. I'm thinking the pull might be too low, so will try it out. Also will check to be sure it can still pull the drawer. Thanks for the idea! Very relieved by everyone's comments that I can use the current size pulls!

Remember, it's your kitchen. Do what makes you happy. I think they look great and the idea that you have been collecting them from eBay (which I love) is even more appealing and adds more character since you can't buy them at a local big house hardware store.
