I can tell you what I've been using.

Primer: Benjamin Moore Fresh Start
Paint: Benjamin Moore Satin Impervo Waterbourne

I am using Farrow & Ball for a pantry area. Have used it for some trim work already and it goes on so nice and smooth ... can't wait to get to work on the pantry!!

We have Benjamin Moore Satin Impervo oil-based on the old cabinets. It's awesome---everything wipes off, and it's smooth as anything. It's no longer sold in California for residential use because of the oil (though you can apparently buy it for auto use and then paint cabinets with it, according to one cabinetmaker!), so I don't know how the water-based versions compare.

Also used BM Satin Impervo waterborne. I had Kilz premium primer since the cabinets needed some sanding and hole patching. Our cabinets are white (Chantilly Lace), and one year later, they still look great and clean up easy.

We're using Sherwin Williams Pro Classic in a "Casa Blanca" off-white. Having painted cabs twice before (last house), I think there is really more to the sanding prep work than there is to the paint quality/choice in getting a good finish. Even most of the box store paints seem to be pretty good quality unless you're going a very glossy bright white.

Just got a couple of Farrow & Ball samples to try on the walls (my cabs are stained) but just wanted to say, Crown Point uses Farrow & Ball on their cabs -- you can choose that or their factory catalyzed finish. So they must have confidence in it as a "period" looking but also durable paint.
