| I'm interested in your opinions regarding my kitchen design for an update to a 1960's ranch home that originally had a walled off kitchen. The current layout has a long wall where the three chairs on the peninsula are located with a pocket door at the left end, as well as a pocket door in the opening to the "dining room" which is actually an L shaped livingroom/diningroom combo.
As you can see in the photo, the idea is to remove the long wall and build a peninsula off of the short wall that will give me some much needed cabinet and counter space. I've toyed with several ideas and this seems to be the best fit for the space and size constraints etc. The short wall is load bearing and supports a beam at the corner so it would be cost prohibitive to remove entirely. Any thoughts or suggestions? The dimensions of the peninsula are 4'x7'. This is my first time doing any sort of design work so I'm open to anything right now. Thanks! Mike |

| Here's a progress pic that shows the kitchen in it's current state. Maybe this will clarify what I'm trying to do. I'd really appreciate any input here! |
