honed jet mist / virginia mist? yes! do it!

Just wanted to pop in as we are not quite through with our renovation and say that if anyone is on the fence about honed/leathered Jet Mist or Virginia Mist - go for it.

We are TOTALLY THRILLED with ours. It is beautiful. I am not having nearly the issues I was anticipating having read all the forums.

With that said, 'meticulous' is not exactly a word that anyone would use to describe either my husband or myself.

I will post pictures (because that's all anyone ever wants anyways!!) very soon.

We have the whole cream colored shaker cabinets / oil rubbed bronze hardware / nickel finish - thing going on.

Believe it or not, it's been a whole month since I've even thought about THE DAMNED TOWEL PIG! HOO-RAH! Now thats progress...

I'm getting honed VA mist, but I have to admit I'm a little worried. The sample I have showed spots from oil, but I'm hoping a sealer will prevent that. But then , love is blind!

We went the whole 'enhancer' route. I think its acts as a sealer as well. I read one of the gals (i think boxerpup) did it and really liked her results. It looks awesome.

We got the DuPont StonePro tec...or something like that.

As for oil spots - not had that issue yet, and we've been cooking with them for about a month now.

Numbersjunkie: you will not have problems with oil if you enhance the VA mist. Before enhancing I did get an oil stain (my fabricator got it out with acetone) but with the enhancer you can spill ANYTHING on this stone and it all wipes off.

Was yours sealed when you got the oil stain? I really don't like the enhanced look as much.

numbersjunkie: yes, they were sealed, but that didn't help, I still got the stain.

Not what I wanted to hear. But I'm in love,so I think I will go ahead with my plan. If we have to enhance, so be it.

Waiting to hear from the granite yard that the shipment is in so we can tag our slabs.
