Help picking backsplash to go with my granite

Posted by oubigguy (My Page) on

We are starting to fix up our kitchen a little and need help picking a new backslash. In the future we may reface or paint our oak cabinets, so whatever I pick needs to be versatile enough to work with other cabinets too.

Our granite is Luna Pearl and seems to be tough to pick decent backsplashes that will work with it. I have attached a pic of it, so hopefully some of you will have some good ideas of what we should use.

Also, please don't recommend keeping the one we have. I've already demoed it :)

Have you considered a white ceramic or light gray tone glass subway tile?

RE: Help picking backsplash to go with my granite

Hi oubigguy,

The thing that helped me the most was taking my granite to the tile place (a good one) and just walking around with it. I ended up picking one that no one ever suggested to me. It jumped out at me while walking around. I had the same backsplash as you in my pre-remodeled kitchen so I was a bit more daring this time. I took a piece of my cabinets to the tile places too to make sure everything looked good together. You'd be surprised how much the tile people can help to. I just act like a dummy and ask everyone's opinion and then ultimately do what I want after putting all their ideas together.

Hi Oubigguy,

Nursetammi has great advice. Visit a place with a piece
of your granite. It can be so overwhelming to
find the right Back Splash. Keep in mind that you have a
great basic color to work with. The Luna Pearl is beautiful
and many tiles can go with this.

Do you have a color in mind? What color will you change
the oak cabs?

Look through magazines and clip out kitchens you love and
soon enough you will find a pattern to which style fits you.
Meanwhile here are few ideas.
