Pendant Lights

I feel like I have looked at every light on the web! We are in the middle of new construction of an open floor plan- so great room is separated from kitchen with area that has sink dw etc and a raised granite overhang. I also have an island between this area and the back wall. Cabs are inset spice with ebony glaze and island is ebony heritage, granite is Bianco Antico. I feel like I need a little color in the pendant lights over the island. Any suggestions? I'm thinking width of 10-12". I love the clear type pendants like pottery barn hundi laterns, but with my colors feel like I need a little pop of something. TIA

I went through this same dilemia a few weeks back. I actually ordered the Hundi Lanterns from Pottery Barn and when I got them out of the box they were way bigger than they looked in the pictures. Our island is 7 feet by 3 feet. I also try Pottery Barn's Barnard pendants. They would have been ok, but I just wasn't crazy about the color with the rest of the finishes in my kitchen. We ended up going with two 10" pendants from Capital Lighting and I love them! They are one of my favorite things in the kitchen. They only cost about $120 a piece. I'm so glad I didn't go with glass (like the Hundi) because they would have shown every speck of dust and lint everytime I turned them on. That would bother me. The lights from Capital won't show a thing! Here's a picture:

Here are a few ideas...I wish I had a few with lots of
color.

Thanks Boxerpups for the great pics- for some reason I didn't see til now. My island is smallish 6ft long. Would 2 pendants 10" diameter and 12" ht be too much??

JillandMatt - I love your pendants - theyre exactly what Ive been looking for. Woudl you mind telling me the name/model #? I tried searching on the capital site, but got nowhere. Love your kitchen, too!!

Are they the Stanton three light foyer light on the Capital website in the foyer light section?

Jillandmatt, how high are your ceilings? My island will be 7x4 with 10 foot ceilings.

krmanda- Our ceiling are 10 feet and the island is 3x7. Very close to your's. I can measure how far they are apart from each other if that would help. I know it's tough to find the right size etc..

Jillandmatt- thx so much for the pics and sizes. This is the last decision I need to make and can't seem to find the perfect light. I think the 10" pendants on your island look perfect, so that gives me a reference point. I would love to know how far apart yours are if you could measure. The pendants I am looking at are Jamie Young Lafitte in amber glass- sorry I don't know how to post the link....

Here is our mine. Access lighting has simpler lighting options but tending toward modern. My kitchen however is traditional. Also they are quite affordable! I like them because they are unobstrucive.
