i love my vitamix. not sure what it cost since ive had it for awhile but i got it at bed bath and beyond with a 20% off coupon.

is it a 64oz carafe or the 48 oz?
if 64oz, that is a GREAT price for a new (not-refurbished) variable speed Vitamix.

Not sure about price, but check that you can keep it on your counter if that's what you intend. I went with the blendtec because the vitamix, at that time, did not fit on counter where there are upper cabinets. You'll use it less if you have to get it out every time.

Also, Costco and Bj's often run Blendtec and Vitamix specials. Look at store events calendar for the times they are doing demonstrations

The next-generation Vitamix blenders (I think they are called G-Series) are designed to fit under a counter. The older ones might not, unless you get a new container.

I paid $279 shipped from the vitamix website for a refurbished, variable speed, unit with the 64 oz container. It came with a 5 year warranty with the ability to extend to 8 years for a bit more. I have used it almost several times a day since I got it and I didn't even own a blender before this. As Calumin stated above the older models do not fit under upper cabs and the newer G-series do. However, I don't think you can buy the g-series container and use it with an older version of the vitamix. I think the horse power is different on the two versions.

It sounds like you are looking at the Vitamix Turbo VS (which is the same exact blender as the 5200)

It is a completely different class of blender compared to a Nutribullet - quite an upgrade.

$327 is actually a great price for a new one. The only way to get close to that price would be to buy a reconditioned vitamix direct from vitamix - the equivalent model would be $329

Just be sure to check that it is a new variable speed and that you get the full 7-year warranty.

Melissaki5 - you are correct that you can not purchase the G-Series container on it's own, it only comes with the G-series blenders which are slightly more powerful.
