can I use 2 different finishes on butcherblock?

Is it possible to use ..say marine varnish on the bottom and then tung oil on the top? Concerned about moisture over the DW but much prefer the look of a matte finish for the top.
I know there is a lot of talk about Waterlox but dont want to work that hard to touch up or redo if it should need it. TIA

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure if the different products had different "expansion" rates. I didn't want the wood to crack or warp from forces opposite each other.
