Countertop overhang on Shaws Apron Sink

I have a 30" Shaw's Apron Sink in my new kitchen. The guy from the stone place was over yesterday to measure for the granite countertop. He asked if I wanted the countertop to overhang the sides of the sink by 1/4". Because of the irregularity of the sink, he said they normally do this, But they can also step it back to reveal a bit of the top edge of the sink. However, then the caulking shows and he said it can be more difficult to clean.

Question: How much do your counters overhang the sides and back of your apron sink? What looks best?

I have a slight positive reveal on my sink and I really like it. I looked at displays with all three and decided I liked this the best. I did not want to lose any of the sink area with counter overhang and wanted the sides of the sink to show. I have clear caulking and it doesn't show at all.

The sink is very easy to keep clean, I use Bar Keepers Friend, and the sink edges just don't get dirty. Once the kitchen is done and you are working in it, you won't notice these little items at all.

Hi.

I opted for the countertop to slightly (just barely) overhang the sides and back.
I was concerned about the silicone/caulk getting grungy in a few years time. I'm happy with the result.

I don't really think you can go wrong. Good luck!

Same here as katie.... our countertop goes right over the top of the sink.

My granite guy said the same thing... very hard to get the positive reveal with the irregularity of the sink. It can be done, but difficult. So... I opted for the countertop to go JUST over the edge of the sink. I don't see any silicone whatsoever and it's been no problem to keep it clean.

I love, love, love my sink.

Mine's pretty much lined up, edge of sink to edge of counter. I'm happy with the way it looks. Although you might notice that the front of mine projects out quite a bit from the front of the cabinet.

Yes, ebse is right. It's a 30 inch Shaw's Original by Rohl in white.

OMG Warning: there are gorgeous sinks we do not see here. Be careful what you fall in love with! LOL.

I personally love the look of the sink being fully exposed. I know it will be harder to clean, but I think it looks sharp, especially if it's a stainless steel sink like the one in this pic. Mine will be installed this way this week, so hopefully it looks as good as this one.

Thanks for all the help. I decided to go with a very slight overhang. Hopefully it will look good!
