Sorry I don't think I can answer your question without some clarification. I've never had haze on my Silgranit sinks, and I am on my 3rd one (in 3rd house). I always have had the anthracite color which doesn't show anything. Usually I have to remind myself to clean the sink cause it never looks dirty. I cannot imagine sealing a Silgranit sink, and haven't heard of that before.

I am unclear from your post what the haze comes from? What grout in sink? The only thing I can think of is that when your plumber installs the drain, the drain should be installed with silicone not putty. Putty could stain the sink from the industrial-oil base of the putty. Is that what you mean?

If your GC recommended grout anywhere near a composite sink, you should fire him immediately.

Silicone is applied between the sink flange and the bottom of the top, functioning as a gasket only, and held with mechanical fasteners.

The only grout haze that occurs on a sink is when your hack tiler puts thinset or grout down your sink. Your fire him,and send him the bill to clear out your pipes and replace your sink.

Or, hard water will leave a haze on any sink material. It's not exclusive to silgranite. The haze on a sink is the least of your worries with hard water. The inside of your pipes and faucets will have that buildup that never goes away. Water treatment is in order if you have hard water.

gemcap- my silgranite sink was installed the same day as the granite by the granite guys. tiling is tbd as i am diying it but my granite place told me to wait 2 weeks before tiling the bs. there is no grout needed at all on the sink. grout makes no sense to me.
is it that your installer has not worked with silgranite before? my granite place installed them frequently so they knew what to do

ardcp - the grout or silicon is the filler to prevent water seepage in the undermount sink (refer the red arrow in the picture posted)

gemcap i would go onto blanco's website to see what they say about grout vs silicone. i have never heard of anyone grouting a sink as grout is not waterproof.

The stuff that goes in that crack isn't grout--it's silicone caulk. Maybe your GC is using the wrong word?

You wouldn't even use grout on a sink that's tiled in and surrounded by it.

Caulk. Not grout.

ha ha...thanks Trebruchet :-) I so needed that laugh in the morning. GC is going to get a crystal clear hymn sheet to work off. He's a nice guy who's open to feedback and other views so that is a positive.

ardcp - he says he has worked with composite sinks before so I now wonder how the other installations turned out to be.
