Blum is a very good hinge. I don't know if it's the best, but it is very good.

Blumotion is Blum's soft-close feature on drawers and doors. You cannot slam a drawer or door w/Blumotion b/c they are "caught" and then slowly & softly closed.

That is a Ford / Chevy argument with cabinet makers. I use Grass, used to use Blum. I'll tell you though, Salice have one benefit over every other hinge out there. They don't bind when the adjustment is maxed out like Grass and BLum do. Only a cabinet guy would notice though.

Stay away from Integra hinges, or any of the Chinese made hinges. They cast their base plates, lots of them snap off. Grass or Blum base plates are stamped not cast. Lots tougher.

You should also consider how far you want your door to open, 180 degrees, or something less... this is probably dependent on what type of cabinetry you choose.

Our hinges are from horton brasses and they do allow the cabinets to open a full 180 degrees which is nice when unloading the dishwasher (and keeps me from whacking into the cabinets).
