Any idea what granite this is? And paint color to go with?

This is about the color of my cabinets, and I love this granite. Any idea what it is? I don't love the BS, and I am doing wood, painted white for BS except behind the sink and cooktop.

Dh thinks we should put something plain on the counters and something with more movement on the floor so dirt doesn't show as much. He could be right. But in any case, there will be some browns, golds, whites, and a little black. There is a soffit over the cabinets and it will be white wood also, with white crown mold, white wood ceiling, and white beams. The doors in the room are white, white trim on them, and white baseboard. I think that is enough white.

I know I don't want yellow or gold walls, but I can't see another color with that either. It looks like they have a chocolate brown paint with that kitchen and I don't really care for that color with the cabinets and it's too dark for my little kitchen.

What color would you choose with these colors? Doesn't have to be a specific name, just a color family. What would a gray look like? Am I stuck with something tan if I go with counter/floor with those colors?

It could be Mascarello, but usually it is more gold. I'll keep hunting.

Juparana Delicatus is another it might be.

It might be that bahacca. So far I've just been looking for colors online. I have yet to go to a granite yard. I was just trying to narrow down the colors so I could get the walls painted before dh gets antsy and puts up the door trim and baseboard.

Marti- If you don't like a soft gold or off white...what do you like? I think the right shade of green could look very nice or even light blue. All the colors are really very neutral, so a light color should still work with them...as long as you get the right shade to play off the wood cabinets and warm tones in the granite.

Another question...what colors do you want to use in the dining area? What about fabrics? Will this granite 'work' with these choices or do you think something with less movement would be better? The one (sometimes) downside, to rooms being open to each other.

Just want to point out that you don't need much movement on the floor to hide dirt. My slate-look tile has subtle shading, and it hides dirt so well you can't tell if it's just been washed or not. Telling you this so you don't feel you need to have a quiet counter to go with a busy floor. You can show this to your DH.

That countertop could be marble. I went to my boss' house for a bbq last weekend. They just had a kitchen remodel and their counters looked similar to this, but with fewer white lines. I asked her what her granite was called and she said it was marble. Didn't get the name though. I'd never see brown marble.

Look up Emperador marble or Marron emperador marble. Also Dynasty Brown or Rainforest Brown.

LL, I like blues and grays. I like yellows and golds ok, but I've had them for several years and am tired of them. I've had gray in the kitchen for years too, but I still like it.

Ginny, I love your floor. Do you remember the name?

That may be a marble, but from the things I've read, I know marble wouldn't work for us.

I'm going into the city today to look at vents so I'll try to stop by the granite yard too if I have time.

My tile is Crossville Strong, 12 x 18, and this color is Nero. It is very thick, commercial rated porcelain tile. It has a slate-like texture and doesn't get slippery when wet. I love it, and so does my DH. I think I paid $6.60/sq ft, so not terribly pricey.

Daltile also has slate-look tiles.

Willtv has actual slate floors that are beautiful and would also not show dirt.

It looks a lot like my lapidus. It isn't installed yet, but i was able to snap a small pic at the yard. My pic doesn't show the gold, but it is in there. It has a lot of movement, so I am only doing it on the island. Perimeter I am using black pearl.

Thanks pqsmom, that is really pretty. I don't have an island and not a lot of perimenter space either. I wonder how it looks on a short cabinet run?
