South Fla contractor that does IKEA cabs?

I inherited a lovely apartment in West Palm Beach, except for the 1970's kitchen and bathrooms that need to be redone. Harvest Gold, anyone?

Want IKEA cabinets and would love a referral to a contractor in Palm Beach/Broward Counties who is experienced with IKEA. If you've used someone and were happy with them, please post here or email me from my page.

I am in NJ and going down shortly for 2 wks to pick cabs and hopefully, line up a design/contractor to do the work when I go back in January. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Last time I was here was when I redid my home kitchen in 2008 and you guys were invaluable help - especially with the decision to get soapstone. Thanks in advance for any help with my Florida IKEA kitchen redo.

Wow, is that a Fridigaire Flair? Are you going to keep that?

I don't have a suggestion for you, but I do have a caveat: Ikea is in the process of discontinuing its current Faktum/Akurum kitchen line, to be replaced by a whole new system called Metod/Sektion early next year.

I would think very hard about buying cabinets now, given that it may be hard to get any extra needed bits by then. In other places Ikea has said that they would continue to stock parts for the older system for two years, but I don't know that I'd put much faith in being able to get a particular part later on.

So if you were planning to do the kitchen now, I'd say go ahead, but with that much of a time gap, I don't know.

There is an Ikea between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. I would ask its kitchen department people if they can give you a name.

I forgot to mention there is a company in Sarasota that apparently works throughout the state of Florida. The name Kitchen Craft LLC., Sarasota. I have never used him but I see his van parked outside the our local Publix quite often.

RE: South Fla contractor that does IKEA cabs?

I believe IKEA contracts with a local company for installation of their cabinets if you do not wish to install the cabinets yourself. You may wish to check on that! That company is guaranteed to have the experience, but I would check their reviews as well.

The company that Ikea Sunrise (the local store for WPB) uses is a flatpack assembly company rather than a kitchen specialist. I suppose they've installed a lot of kitchens, but I definitely would not expect much in the way of design help or clever suggestions from them.

Thanks, all. I have the name of someone and will be contacting him.
