My head is going to explode. Anyone else want to join?

I feel like one of the aliens in "Mars Attacks!" Would someone just play "It's Not Unusual" and put me out of my misery?
Has anyone counted how many times I've said "I've GOT it!" and then I don't?LOL I think I'm onto idea #7. And my husband wonders why I'm starting to put together stuff for our master bathroom-which we probably won't get to for several more years.

I'm with you. My friends tell me I'm obsessive about these things once I get started. It's all I think about. I can't let go of any detail. There are so many options and I feel it's a decision I need to live with constantly for the next 20 years so I'd better get it right.

And I haven't even met with my first contractor. Tomorrow. if he shows up. I've contacted 3 already that didn't return my calls or emails.

I'm with you!!! It's beyond "normal" and I'm glad I'm not alone! lol

Add me to that list! You probably noticed I suddenly appeared on the forum and now post regularly. I'm in a complete kitchen haze, and feel like our May planned start date is coming quick! I've looked at more tile online than I even knew existed! I have friends redoing kitchens and building houses, and I can talk rings around them when it comes to kitchen stuff, thanks to my tunnel vision and GW. I tend to go for complete immersion in things once I get going.

Oh, I'm with you!
I am working on my whole house, so there's always some tangent I'm on.

I have no idea what I'll talk about when I'm even close to finished. We all know that never happens.

I do think, though, if I finish for real I'll probably drop dead. Like those people who work for the same company for 30 years, retire and drop dead.

I take it this means the black with stainless idea is out? ;) Just to push you a little further over the edge - there is some amazing aluminum (I thought it was stainless) at Daltile - Mythos Brushed Aluminum tile. There are bars, and bricks, and 1x1 tiles, and some is brushed straight and some has curves (which could bring in your cabs)... it's awesome. Saw it at the little Daltile in Irvine (or is that Tustin? near the 55 just a few blocks N of MacArthur). I'm keeping it in mind for my kitchen BS when I get there as an accent with the glass subway. The thing that scares me about some of the stainless is that it will show scratches. Since this is brushed that's already done for you! :) I'm thinking that running a few bars of that around to break up the glass might just look pretty cool. =) Oh, say, did you hear any news from your saleslady today now that she is back? Or are you def off the fusion anyway? And, just another thought... there was some AMAZING black quartz that was actually kind of facing "your" fusion at Bedrosians. I asked Robert what it was and he said quartz but I don't remember what the name was other than that. It looked like it had diamonds sparkling in it. Gorgeous. Hang in there... it's only a kitchen... that you will have to live with for the next 20 years. :-) Not helping, am I?

Join? You must have not seen me there before you, rocking in the corner mumbling about knotty pine...

I'm now sending stuff back (after begging faucetdirect.com to please refund me even though I'm 90 days past their 30 day return window) as I was so sure I HAD IT that I ordered IT and now I either don't want IT or IT doesn't work. haha.

I'm with you! Just about the time I think I know what I want, something comes along that throws a monkey wrench into it, and I have to start all over. I never would have thought that choosing materials and appliances would be so hard.

beeps-I am off the Fusion wagon. We found a black we adore-it is Emerald Pearl, so very very dark green with flecks that read silver, green or blue, dpending on the light. This afternoon, it was showing no blue in our dimmer light. I'm waiting to se what it does in the morning sun in our kitchen. So I'm pretty sure we will get that counter and still stainless, but the accent tile is KILLING me. And the fact that I spent 2 hours drawing different tile patterns while at my kids' soccer and swim lessons. I showed my husband my drawings-and then caught him on Excel doing his own patterns! HAAA! He said "You've drawn me into your madness you evil woman!" I just laughed and said "Welcome to my personal hell." So I'm going to pay a babysitter to watch my poor neglecterinos while I go tile shopping for the million-eth time. I'm no longer stuck on just Daltile since the $ we are saving on the Fusion will allow me to do just about anything I want with the bs. Not sure if that is a good thing or not;-)

Funny thing bahacca - I started out with Blue Pearl and went from there. :) The Emerald is pretty! Actually, you are doing really well. Switched granite and BS very quickly. Now all you need is accent tile. That's great progress in a couple days! Good luck with the accent tile pattern and shopping! (BTW - Voguebay has tons of stunning glass. Yes, in RED! ;)

RE: My head is going to explode. Anyone else want to join?

Ignorance is bliss! I didn't find GW until everything was ordered except the BS and the pulls. So I knew nothing about all the details with which I could have been obsessed. I thought it was all easy. I did spend a jillion hours looking at pulls and then went with the pulls that were free with the cabinets and I love them. The BS was easy once I realized that even though mosaic accents work for some kitchens, they don't work for mine.
My DH acted as the GC and we used all people who we already knew so that went well. I was very lucky and I feel for those who are getting treated badly.
So this is one time that knowing very little worked out ok. I know it can't happen again.

Beeps-thanks for voguebay. Pretty stuff, but I don't see anything in the sizes I'd be able to use:-( And we are onto green/blue now.

I too have the exploding head. I am renovating an entire 1900 sq ft house to move into this fall. It was a flooded foreclosure. 100% of the flooring is gone, 100% of the walls need paint, interior doors are gone, interior trim is gone. One bathroom has a tub, the second bathroom has nothing. Most light fixtures are polished brass and are going to be leaving, the back door needed to be replaced, there is no kitchen, the laundry cabinets are gone. My head is about to explode and I have had to stop trying for perfect and instead just make as many liveable choices as I can and hope I don't make any major or costly mistakes!!!

I think I have stumbled into ADHD land! My DD is AD and I have been living thru it with her, with still more to come as she navigates a potential home addition. She still hasn't signed on the dotted line with her GC, but I have been hearing 'Ooooh, aren't these cabinets great for my kitchen; what do you think about adding another foot to my MBR?' Yeah, yeah, I'm about to explode just thinking about what I'll have to go thru with her, lol!
