I got this from Laura12 on the house building forum. If you want to see the thread, I'll post it below. There are lots of other great built-in ideas in this thread - lots of them are utilizing the space between studs.

Mine will be about 3-4 feet wide. It will be 12" deep...the wall is 8" thick so 4" will jut out into the Arctic entry leading to the deck.

It will be used as a drop-off, charging and control center & place for my purse. It's right across from the island as you enter/leave the kitchen to go either outside or to the pantry.

I will also have a small study but it's far enough away from the kitchen & hubbub that I know it wouldn't end up there - it would pile up on the kitchen island.
