Granite/backsplash for oak cabinets

Hello, I'd like your suggestions on granite and backsplash options for our smaller kitchen... I have included pics of our kitchen along with dining room/living room to give an idea of what our home looks like...

Since our kitchen is smaller I would like something that helps "open" up our kitchen. I've considered giallo napolean (like it, not enough contrast?) and giallo vicenzo (like it, not in love), but was thinking more contrast could be a better choice.

I am currently leaning towards diamond patterned tile (or glass backsplash) in a light color... The floating floor is in dire need of being replaced. For the flooring I am leaning towards a rectangular porcelain, ceramic or limestone, but also completely undecided.

Bumping since you don't have any responses...but quite honestly, you need to go to more stone yards and look around. There are a lot of choices and you need to see what is interesting to you. Also if you have pictures or examples of the granites you're talking about, that would help. A lot of us don't know these granites perfectly by name, and some yards call them different things.

If it were me I would keep the counters light. Granite with not much movement, i have seen a beautiful oak kitchen with kasmir white granite. I also would keep the backsplash simple. Subway tiles comes to mind in a light color.
