Painting soffit???

Hi,

In another post I requested help with a paint color for my almost finished kitchen. Someone suggested I trim the bottom of our soffit and paint it the same color as the cabinets so it doesn't stand out as much. I was originally going to do this when getting rid of the soffit was no longer in the budget but decided against it because there was no good place to stop the trim and paint on the fridge side and breakfast nook side. Since you all are much more clever than I :o), I thought I would post some pictures to see if you have any ideas on how to get around this so I can paint the soffit the same white as the cabs. Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated! If not I am ready to embrace the soffit and paint it the same as the walls.

I would leave it as it is. I think it looks very nice. It doesn't "stand out" to me in a negative way.

I agree! I see absolutely nothing wrong with it, and really like the color. Probably because it's the same color as my own walls!

I would agree with everyone else... leave it the way it is, your kitchen is lovely. Remember, we are are worst critics.

Soffits? I was so taken with the stunning soapstone counters that I didn't even notice the soffits.

Stop worrying and start enjoying.

I agree with others, I was so taken with your kitchen cabinets and counters that I didn't even notice the soffits. I like that the colour of the walls on the soffits sort of wraps around your kitchen and holds everything together.

What is your backsplash? Any chance of a close-up of it?

If there was something wrong with your soffits you'd have so many suggestions you wouldn't know where to start.

Hi all! Thanks for all your compliments! I really appreciate it. I do have to paint as the guys that painted the cabs got paint on the walls and there are many places the wall needs touch-up. Also the paint is pretty dark--it looks much lighter in my pics. I am hoping to paint a greenish or bluish gray. Still working on samples:o). Here is a bit of a close up of the tile. I can try to get one that is closer up later today if you want. Thanks!
