Anyone with a Franke Oceania sink

We have to make a decision soon about our kitchen sink and are debating between a Blanco Stellar and a Franke Oceania (single, undermount). We are kind of leaning toward the latter because I like that you can buy a colander and dish pan that appear to sit on a lip at the top where the countertop meets the sink. But I worry that lip will be a terrible dirt collector. Can anyone with the Oceania tell me about that? Thanks!

I am not familiar with those specific sinks, but word to the wise, when you are having your sink installed when using accessories that sit on the lip of the sink, make sure to alert your granite fabricator as they will have to adjust the cutout slightly to make sure these accessories will fit. Speaking from experience...

As Susan27 mentioned - talk to your fabricator about this. You'll want what is called a "positive reveal" in order to provide the shoulder for the accessories to sit on. The shoulder may catch some "gunk", but it's easy to clean because you can see it. It always seems to spark a small controversy when the discussion turns to the differences between a negative reveal and a positive reveal. The positive reveal supporters usually point out all of the hidden gunk that can accumulate on the bottom of the counter where it overhangs the sink and the negative reveal supporters point out the visible dirt catcher of the sink ledge.

I have the Oceania and absolutely love it. The size is perfect for me. I didn't buy those accessories however, so I can't provide any comment on that. We have a slight negative reveal and no problems so far. It has been in place for almost five years now.

Thank you so much all, those are really helpful comments. We are transitioning from a double sink (which I hate) to a single, so I guess we are thinking the colander and basin accessory will help us adapt (rinsing, etc.). mary11, glad to hear you are fine without them. So now it's just about whether we want open or hidden gunk. Thanks again.

I had a double sink in my old kitchen and thought I would miss it. But I love the large single so much better! Yes there is a bit of adjustment in terms of rinsing and such, but you develop a new routine that gets to be the new normal.

Or Libraleo, you could be like me. I have a positive, neutral and negative reveal -on the same sink. Lousy fabricator! Just a little negative, a tad positive-I got over it-happened a year ago.
