I did exactly that. I so wanted french doors. I had them in my plan for months until I realized that I just didn't have enough wall space for the kitchen unless I changed to a single door. Functionally, I'm very glad I changed to a single. I do miss the elegance of a double, but I know I'd have regretted putting them in. Here's an old shot of mine.

Have you posted your layout yet for feedback? Maybe someone can rearrange things to make the doubles fit.

Thanks breezy! Yours and 2littlefishes' kitchens were actually the inspiration for my walnut center island countertop! I hadn't realized you had the single door in all the times I viewed your kitchen - I'm so glad to see it! It looks great, btw! I haven't posted the floorplan yet - I'm not tech savvy at all! I have the floorplan as a PDF attached to an email and that's it! But, similar to yours, the door will be on the same wall as the sink and I really want the large super single silgranite, with requires a 36 inch cab, plus I also really want (need!) a second dishwasher drawer, and in order to get those, I'm willing to sacrifice a glass door - especially since I will not have any upper cabs in that wall, so there will be plenty of windows. I wanted (and now have) the super single silgranit also, plus some storage on that wall. Hence the change to the single door.

I really wanted two DWs also. I run mine at least twice a day, and more often when entertaining. I get by with one, but two would be a dream set-up. If it helps, I am happy with my single, and would have gladly given up the double if it meant two DWs!

I have to admit that I do have a French doors in my DR. I get my double fix in this room. :) (Really old pic preparing to host Thanksgiving--lots of chairs.)

This has nothing to do with what you're asking, but I have 16 of these doors I got at a reuse center. New. Exterior. and ready to become the glass in my future sun porch. I will have some open and some slide. I'm leaning towards saving for the sliding hardware. :)
